About the Author
Larry Bartlett is as full-time Alaska River Guide, and when he's not on the river he's researching new regions and consulting hunters to safely and effectively hunt in Alaska.
Larry is the founder and President of a Wilderness Adventure company called Pristine Ventures, which offers hunting books, guided and unguided wilderness adventures, and Unguided, Do-it-yourself Alaska hunts for Moose, Caribou, Dall Sheep, and Bear.

I bought the book about 8 months before I left on a self guided moose hunt. I found any and all questions were answered in this book. I had a very good trip I returned home safe, and I had a moose in shooting range I recommend this book to anyone considering a self guided hunt in Alaska.

A well-organized book that guides you step by step for a do it yourself hunt on Alaska's rivers. It covers topics from chosing the right watercraft, instructions on how to plan and implement your float hunt, gear preparation, techniques for for hunting, field care and other comprehensive information to improve your hunt. Of all the books I've collected on hunting in Alaska (approximately 2 dozen), I'd say this book is one of the top 3. In addition, Bartlett is willing to discuss hunting in Alaska with you (without a charge) as he has taken my calls and responded to my emails on a variety of topics about hunting in Alaska.
