Learn how the pros make flower arranging look easy,
By kahanatom@aol.com (New Orleans, Louisiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Complete Guide to Flower Arranging (Hardcover)
If you love flowers but can never figure out what to do with them, this is the book for you. Whether you prefer elaborate arrangements wired into perfection or would just like to be able to make a bunch of tulips stand up in a vase, Packer's beautifully illustrated book will show you the way.The innovative use of dried flowers and unusual containers is also covered in some detail. Artichokes in a flower arrangement? Packer makes it work! And the proper use of the "tools of the trade" such as floral foam, wires, tapes, and cutters is explained in easy to understand terms. Don't leave this one on the coffee table--use it!

Practical and Inspiring,
By A Customer
This review is from: Complete Guide To Flower Arranging (DK Living) (Paperback)
It seems most floristry books are either helpful or pretty. Jane Packer has managed to combine both elements in Complete Guide To Flower Arranging, resulting in a practical reference book that doesn't just provide visual guides but includes practical tips and inspirational designs for new florists. An absolute must for those starting work with flowers and building a reference library.

less interesting than her "Fast flower arranging" book,
By Nathalie DESTRUEL (Philadelphie, USA) - See all my reviews

I guess the "fast flower arranging'" book is really more worth buying than this one. You will find the same great tips but the arrangements will be more appealing than the ones shown in The complete guide to flower arranging.

Just not very good,
By "kiggity8" (Knoxville, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Complete Guide To Flower Arranging (DK Living) (Paperback)
This book is very well illustrated but then it just goes down hill from there. I didn't find the information it gave very useful and there just wasn't very much content to the book. This is the first flower arrangement book I've bought and I've only had it a day and I'm looking for a new and better one! Good Luck.

Arrange like a florist--not necessarily a compliment!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Complete Guide To Flower Arranging (DK Living) (Paperback)
While this book is nicely photographed, well-organized and easy to follow, the focus is very controlled arrangements. Because I prefer the more natural, "just picked from my garden" look, this book did not appeal to me.

Flower Arranging,

Thid book is really good. It has a lot of pages with arrangements with dried and live flowers among other things. Almost every page teaches or shows how to make something wonderful using different styles, techniques, and different flowers. You really get your money's worth with this book.

Handy to have,

This book was recommend to members of our flower guild. It is a reasonably-priced, handy guide to flower arranging. There are lots of different ideas: foam based, vase, potted plants, large arrangements, posies, boutonnieres, swags and dried arrangements. Each arrangement comes with a specific materials list and complete arrangement directions. I'm fairly new to flower arranging and love this book.

Exactly what I expected,
This review is from: Complete Guide To Flower Arranging (DK Living) (Paperback)
When you've been in this business for a while, the floral design business that is, nothing really shocks you anymore.
This is a decent coffee table book, nice pictures but nothing more really. It can not teach you anything, it can not give any ideas that you haven't already seen somewhere else.

Not what I was looking for,

The book is beautiful and for someone that already knows flower arranging it would serve as good inspiration. I was looking for the photos yes, but also step by step instructions so I could learn basics not become a pro, but just get fundamentals on how to make arrangements and this book didn't provide that. It'll serve as a good coffeetable book and eventually for a yard sale item. The title "Compete Guide to Flower Arranging" is not quite what the content is.
