I bought this book about 8 years ago in my quest for innovative and creative ideas on how to get an "unknown" musician heard by the people! Although his discography is lengthy, he had changed his focus from jazz instrumentalist to more singer/songwriter. This book became my bible! It was because of this book that I learned how to solicit and organize multiple House Concerts for him! All were a great success! In this book you will find such ideas as: building a stage (and I did), choosing the best room in the house/apt, setting up seating (rent chairs, sit on the floor, make due?), what to charge, ways to collect (up front, during, pass a hat?), set-up for selling CD's, to serve food or not (host/hostess call), lighting, length of performance, and how a House Concert is so much more intimate than a "regular" concert! Some of the Resources may be a little outdated now, and it became such a craze for awhile that there were waiting lists at some of the more popular homes, but if you need a starting point, encouragement, and a fan in your corner, this is the book for you!
