This review is from: The Complete Guide to Indoor Gardening (Hardcover)
This is an excellent house plant resource. It is packed with color photos featuring a vast array of indoor plants. Lists based on characteristics such as color, foliage, & shade tolerance make choosing the right plant for you easy. The book starts out with great advice on choosing the right room for your plant based on heat, humidity, & lighting conditions. Design suggestions include cover plant groupings, seasonal selections, & miniature displays. Care & maintenance of plants follows. There are helpful suggestions on purchasing, fertilizing, potting, propagating, pruning, & training the plants. There is even a section on diagnosing plant problems & dealing with pests & diseases. There is also a wonderful guide to plant families & a plant encyclopedia. Information includes photo, common name, scientific name, origin, physical characteristics, ideal growing conditions, feeding & propagation.

Nice pictures...but,
By Snookfish (Seattle, Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Complete Guide to Indoor Gardening (Hardcover)
I would like to let potential buyers know that if you are not a complete beginner then this book may not be very useful to you. The book is very attractive and looks nice on my shelf, but the information is very basic. Also, the index and plant directory offer latin names only (with no cross-reference to common names), which is useless if you don't have a degree in botony. If you did know all of the latin names, you probably wouldn't need such basic information...
