2.0 out of 5 stars Nice pictures...but
I would like to let potential buyers know that if you are not a complete beginner then this book may not be very useful to you. This review is from: The Complete Guide to Indoor Gardening (Hardcover)
This is an excellent house plant resource. It is packed with color photos featuring a vast array of indoor plants. Lists based on characteristics such as color, foliage, & shade tolerance make choosing the right plant for you easy.

The book starts out with great advice on choosing the right room for your plant based on heat, humidity, & lighting conditions. Design suggestions include cover plant groupings, seasonal selections, & miniature displays.

Care & maintenance of plants follows. There are helpful suggestions on purchasing, fertilizing, potting, propagating, pruning, & training the plants. There is even a section on diagnosing plant problems & dealing with pests & diseases.

There is also a wonderful guide to plant families & a plant encyclopedia. Information includes photo, common name, scientific name, origin, physical characteristics, ideal growing conditions, feeding & propagation.

The book is very attractive and looks nice on my shelf, but the information is very basic. Also, the index and plant directory offer latin names only (with no cross-reference to common names), which is useless if you don't have a degree in botony. If you did know all of the latin names, you probably wouldn't need such basic information...
