I met the author at a wholesale show in Florida where she was demonstrating the kumihimo product. I did purchase the large kit that included this book.

This is a very good book for beginners and it has instructions for a few different types of braids to get you started.

I would like to see the author come out with an imtermediate book as well since she does give clear instructions. Hint!

She has lot of info, and patterns and gives guidelines on how the patterns will work with different colors, etc., but the book itself is not very high quality. On one page the sentence just stops (mid-sentence...), and is not continued on the next page!

In any case, I would recommend it for someone who is interested in Kumihimo on a foam disc, which is what I do. I'm not interested in the full blown kumihimo stand, because of the cost involved. I just want to make decorative braids for my various projects.

The price is a little high considering the quality.

The book was alright but the instructions left a little to be desired. I helped my mom set up the loom and do her first braid and it was somewhat confusing. Also would have been nice to show more ways to finish the braids off.

This is a good introduction into using a kumihimo disc, it opend up with a review of some of the more popular discs, and some of the other common tools.

This book contains very clear step by step patterns for the most common braids you will come across: round, flat, square and hollow baids as well as covering how to add beads to your braids. A nice touch is that some of the patterns also contain short stories to help you try to visualise the flow of the pattern as it progresses.

One thing that I did find useful was its section on how to end braids and included how to apply endcaps to your braids for making bangles and neclaces.

Finally ending with a short gallery of some pieces including beaded work to get you inspired for your own creations.

It would definatly deserve its space in you craft collection.

This book is a very good example of the various methods of working with kumihimo, the Japanese form of braiding. The procedures are well explained with excellent photos to accompany the explanations.

I was starting a new hobby and needed a way to learn A Complete Guide to Kumihimo on a Braiding Loom did that. It showed me the basics and then how to expand on the basics for large or different shaped braids. I would recommend it to anyone just starting out, or wanting to move past the simple 8 strand round braid.

I have been beading for 8 years now and have finally decided to give Kumihimo a try. This book is great for beginners. It has detailed instructions to guide you through every step of your new challenge.

If you've bought the Kumiloom with bobbins and booklet that is available on Amazon for about $12, you don't need to spend another $18 for this book. It appears to be by the same author that wrote the booklet available in the kit. This isn't even a full-size book and it appears to be published directly by the author (amateur photos taken outside, etc). I wouldn't complain about it at all, except that for an $18 book, you'd expect it to be professionally published. If you haven't bought the Kumiloom yet and are looking for a basic instruction book, this book does have good diagrams and shows how to do a few different types of braids. This information can also be found in other books, which I prefer, such as Necklaces Braided on the Kumihimo Disk by Karen DeSousa.

I purchased this book with a Kumiloom Starter Kit, with pack of extra bobbins (a must!).

I was happy to have the author's product reviews (regarding discs) as a novice user.

Pages 21 - 72 are actual instructions for setting up, threading, and braiding on a Kumiloom.
The instructions are clear and use the numbers on the KumiLoom to help you figure out the pattern.
Also included are "finishing off" the braid and how to add beads to your braids.

Pages 73 - 84 are pictures of some creative ways to use your braids.

Using these instructions, I have already made flat braids, round braids and hollow braids, in only a few days. I have now purchased more bobbins (so my braids can be more complex) and another (more advanced) Kumi book with more patterns in it.

This is an AWESOME book for very beginning Kumihimo braiders.

For someone new to the craft, this is a great little book with easy to read text, good color instructions, and illustrations of projects. Just what I wanted.
