Book Description

January 1, 2005
Wood accessories add function and beauty to your landscape.

Wood furnishings and accessories for the landscape are enormously popular, and most are very easy to build using ordinary hand power tools. The Complete Guide to Outdoor Wood Projects provides an exciting mixture of these projects, ranging from the basic, practical storage projects to decorative, ornamental accessories. Some projects can be built in an hour or two, others might require a weekend, but each project includes foolproof directions, clear illustrations, and color photography to guide you every step of the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Step by Step book, April 21, 2009
This review is from: The Complete Guide to Outdoor Wood Projects: Step-by-Step Instuctions for Over 50 Projects (Black & Decker Complete Guide) (Paperback)
Lot's of great outdoor projects that are easy to build and very functional. The book details the build process step by step with pictures and dimensions that are easy to follow. Some of the projects are so easy to build that I found myself building things I didn't even need just because I could in only a couple of hours. This book is really good.

I gave this to my 11 year old grandson for Christmas and he's already made several of the projects. It's a great book for kids who like to build things. There are both relatively easy ones and more challenging ones.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ugly Furniture Designs, But Limited Tool Requirements, May 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Complete Guide to Outdoor Wood Projects: Step-by-Step Instuctions for Over 50 Projects (Black & Decker Complete Guide) (Paperback)
I bought this book along with several other outdoor woodworking books, and its projects are far and away the ugliest of any of the books. This is primarily due to its focus not on the "woodworking" crowd but rather the "handyman" crowd. It that's you, you might be happy. It doesn't assume a great tool collection (most projects could easily be completed with nothing more than a circular saw and a screwdriver), and it doesn't expect you to spend your life savings on expensive hardwood lumber. The problem then, is that outdoor furniture built using treated yellow pine or cedar is very weak, so the structure is massive, ungainly, and inelegant. For a kids' picnic table or playset that's fine, but if you want to build a patio set or some nice chairs, unfortunately you really do need to use hardwood, and you probably want to use a router, band saw, etc. This book just isn't geared for that.
