I love having so much information on a CD. I find that this information is more complete and more accurate that anything else available for the area. Having it all on one CD along with hundreds of extra color photos and charts makes this a cruiser's dream come true!

No two ways about it, this 3-volume set was our bible for 6 years of cruising the Sea of Cortez. Almost all of Cunningham's chartlets have a GPS grid overlay on them -- wonderful for setting your waypoints. They're accurate, too -- which most electronic charts are not, as they are simply digitized versions of old charts (many times, chartplotters will show you on land when you're in the harbor, etc -- and there is no universal "correction factor").
We found (literally) one or two places where there was a typo in the lat or long, but our other cruising guides had far, far more. Cunningham also covers far more anchorages than any of other guides. Amazon says this is now out of print. I just checked and they are still available directly from the author at: [...] (OK, they deleted my reference. Google on "Gerry Cunningham Sea Cortez" and you'll find it) or you can get the three volumes individually here on Amazon: Cruising Guide to the Lower Gulf, Sea of Cortez Sea of Cortez Cruising Guide, Vol. 2: The Middle Gulf San Carlos and the Midriff Islands (Sea of Cortez Cruising Guide, Volume 3) Cruising the Sea of Cortez is fantastic! Enjoy your trip!! |
