From Library Journal
Scheuer, author of Movies on TV, here restricts his listing to movies available on video. Of the several books with such a narrow focus, Scheuer's is the best. Following the standard format in the genre, Scheuer provides for each film a rating (up to four stars), cast list, capsule commentary, and running time; he also provides the MPAA rating and a symbol designating the film's classification (e.g., mystery, musical, drama). The commentaries and ratings are not just recycled from Movies on TV, but have been completely redone, and generally are an improvement over the earlier book. If a library is only going to purchase one book rating films, then the obvious choice is Leonard Maltin's TV Movies 1987 (NAL, 1986) because of its broader coverage. But along with Halliwell's Film Guide, this is a worthy second choice. John Smothers, Monmouth Cty. Lib., Manalapan, N.J.
