Editorial Reviews

Reissued 1999, 2CD set, Slipcase. Heinz, the original blind bombshell caused a sensation long before Billy Idol. The German born singer and bass player was raised in England and came to fame with the Tornados.

5.0 out of 5 stars This destroys Pat Boone, April 21, 2005
This review is from: Complete Heinz (Audio CD)
Here is a great compilation of early '60s rock 'n' roll from Heinz & Joe Meek that clearly shows that the Brits were superior to the Americans when it came to music. No syrupy ballads or watered down remakes (like Pat Boone did) here. Good rocking songs with great guitar solos courtesy of one young Ritchie Blackmore (on most of them).
Buy it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heinz Rocks !!, May 17, 2011
By
This review is from: Complete Heinz (Audio CD)
Heinz Burt, the reluctant pop star, apple of Joe Meek's eye (strenuously denied by Heinz's surviving family members) and one hit wonder. The thing is, Heinz easily BLOWS AWAY our so called early 60's "teen idols" such as Fabian and Frankie Avalon just to name a few. With some great tunes, many by the great songwriter/keyboardist/recording artist Geoff Goddard and of course all produced by the late great homicidal bi-polar genius of rock and pop the great Joe Meek , this double album sports every track released and recorded by Heinz. (as far as I know)

This album contains REAL rock and roll! It's the REAL DEAL here folks! Personally I would say at least 1/3 of the songs are REALLY good, with some only marginal and a short few pretty lame, but for the most part it ALL rocks with conviction, passion and honesty! MY personal favorites include "You were There" and of course "Just like Eddie" to name just a few.

One of the BEST things in this package are the liner notes which Heinz PENNED HIMSELF! Little inside comments and stories about the tunes, etc. GREAT STUFF and surely a bonafide piece of rock and roll history.

Sadly, Heinz died in 2000 , confined to a wheelchair by motor neuron disease, but STILL only days before his death he was onstage entertaining a crowd with his top 5 hit "Just Like Eddie" ! Now THAT is what I call true dedication!

Heinz rocked and if you buy this album and crank it up, so will YOU! This album is full of some very happy rockin' music!
