About the Author

Christian Sellers (born 1978) is the co-author of 'The Complete History of the Return of the Living Dead' and the feature documentary 'More Brains: A Return to the Living Dead'. His first break came as a writer for the international horror magazine GoreZone, in which he was a contributor for from 2007 until 2009.

His work has also appeared in issues of Shock Horror and Paracinema, as well as websites like Dr. Gore's Funhouse, Retro Slashers, Love-It-Loud.com and the Friday the 13th site. 'The Complete History of the Return of the Living Dead' was published by Plexus Publishing Ltd in January 2011. 'More Brains: A Return to the Living Dead' was released on DVD in October 2011.

Born in Birmingham, West Midlands UK in 1982, Gary Smart has always been a fan of all things horror. From lending out VHS copies of 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' to his fellow 5 year old classmates to building models of Dr Channard from 'Hellbound: Hellraiser II' at the age of 12 Smart has always had a fascination with the macabre.

Smart has been a lifelong fan of 'The Return of the Living Dead' and spent his youth playing zombies with neighborhood friends. Smart was always Ernie Kaltenbrunner. A lifelong dream finally came true in 2007 when Smart became friends with actor Don Calfa. Smart organized Calfa's first UK convention appearance at the NEC Birmingham in 2007 and also the following year in 2008. Since their first meeting in 2007 Smart and Calfa have become close friends and are in weekly contact. Smart also became close friends with actress Beverly Randolph.

After two painstakingly stressful years 'The Complete History of the Return of the Living Dead' was finally released in January 2011 by Plexus Books UK. Featuring interviews with over 100 cast members and over 300 exclusive interviews 'The Complete History of the Return of the Living Dead' became an instant success with fans of the franchise.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a must buy! December 30, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have to say there was a lot of time and effort that went into this book and it definitely shows. They go from Night of the Living Dead to the last Return of the Living Dead.I amazed by how much I didn't know about the series. This is an absolute beauty of a book the photos are stuff I've never seen before. The majority of the book is dedicated to the first Return of the Living Dead but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way since it's the best out of the series. If your a zombie fan I highly recommend that you purchase this book and if you are a fan of the movie then don't delay, you will really enjoy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fan Requirment! April 11, 2011
By Pete K.
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a great book for any fan of the series especially of the original movie. It has a lot of insight into preparation and execution of the movies with a lot of name dropping and background on all those involved. They talk about what exactly went wrong with the second, fourth, and fifth movies, while giving those who weren't at fault credit for their work.
Some things that I would have liked to have seen would be more prop pictures, and memorabilia whether fan made or professional. I know there is a lot of stuff out there; this would have been a great place to showcase it.
In addition I would have liked them to take this opportunity to explain exactly what went wrong with the DVD's that have come out of the original ROTLD. Why has the soundtrack been butchered; even to the point where key fan favorite phrases were re-dubbed ("Send more cops" / "paramedics")? Why can't a real fan get a hold of an unadulterated copy of this classic movie? Maybe the researchers don't know, but I'm sure they're talented enough and should have been able to track down these answers.
All in all a must buy for any fan of the movie, do not hesitate to add it to your library.

Character amnesia in part 5. Be the first to reply
When will this be released?
According to the co-author Gary Smart, they are a little behind schedule. He said they hoped the release date would be October 31, when I interviewed him about the book. I don't know why Amazon hasn't updated this infomation yet.
