Disappointment,
This review is from: Complete Idiot's Guide to Acupuncture and Acupressure (Mass Market Paperback)
I am looking to understand accupuncture and accupressure without having to suffer through reading text-book style presentations on the subject. Hence my choice of an "Idiot's Guide" book -- I thought it would give me, in layman's terms, a greater understanding of the concepts on which accupuncture and accupressure are based -- kind of a mini-course on the subject. Instead, it focused on what practitioners of these medical arts can do for the patient and what to expect when visiting a practitioner.
While the book does provide descriptions of points that can be stimulated on one's body to alleviate selected conditions as well as visuals in the form of pictures, these are quite limited and not easy to follow. Also, as I read the book, I was annoyed by the poor editing of the text. Frequent grammatical problems undermine the book's credibility. Hence my disappointment.

Fascinating,
By A Customer
This review is from: Complete Idiot's Guide to Acupuncture and Acupressure (Mass Market Paperback)
This is unlike any other book on acupuncture. It is packed with useful information and written in language that everyone can understand. I never knew that acupuncture could be used to treat so many conditions. It is fascinating to me that pain can be successfully treated using acupuncture instead of pain medication. This book was an answer to my prayers. Thank you for writing it.

This review is from: Complete Idiot's Guide to Acupuncture and Acupressure (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is just what it should be - a good overview, an excellent survey, with useful information. Information you wouldn't likely see in any one book.
If you're looking for a single book to help you get started - this is a good one for such a purpose. The depth of material is reasonable, considering that it covers so much and is an overview/survey.

Relief from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Complete Idiot's Guide to Acupuncture and Acupressure (Mass Market Paperback)
What a fascinating and enjoyable read with a humorous twist! I have been suffering with the pain of carpal tunnel syndrome and thought that my only relief could come from surgery. Reading this book gave me the information I needed and led me to seek acupuncture treatment as an alternative to surgery. I am happy to say "it works!" Mr. Sollars book is also loaded with some great self help techniques. This is a must read for anyone who is interested in alternative health care.

Great Introduction,

This review is from: Complete Idiot's Guide to Acupuncture and Acupressure (Mass Market Paperback)
If you know nothing about Acupuncture or Acupressure and are considering treatment this book is a great introduction. Although it talks about Acupressure more than Acupuncture the pressure points are the same for both methods. It talks about the most common issues people seek treatment for, explains what to expect on your first visit, and the basic science behind this ancient form of treatment. I highly recommend it for people who are considering this treatment and have no experience with it.

A good resource for those considering acupuncture,
This review is from: Complete Idiot's Guide to Acupuncture and Acupressure (Mass Market Paperback)
A helpful read for those considering acupuncture. The book gives a well-rounded introduction to the ideas and science behind acupuncture while still being very readable for the layperson. It allows those considering acupuncture to make an informed decision and to have peace-of-mind when going in for their first appointment.

This review is from: Complete Idiot's Guide to Acupuncture and Acupressure (Mass Market Paperback)
This book has ALOT of information in an easy to understand format. I don't normally like the books in the Complete Idiot's series, but I found this book answered all of my questions that I had regarding acupuncture therapy. It's a great read and an excellent reference guide.

not as excepted,
This review is from: Complete Idiot's Guide to Acupuncture and Acupressure (Mass Market Paperback)
this book talks more about acupressure and how to use it but does not go into that much depth for accupunture.

Mr. Sollars clearly knows his stuff! This book answered all of my questions in language I could actually understand. I was surprised at how informative an "Idiot's Guide" could be.
