This book has stuff for everyone from experienced shower throwers to beginners. I have planned a number of showers and yet still found a wealth of fresh, fun ideas in this book. I love the menus and the game ideas, especially "Bridal Jeopardy." Best of all, these great ideas are easy to find and reference. I absolutely recommend this to anyone who is planning a shower!

After attending MANY bridal and baby showers throughout the years, my friends and I were looking for fresh, new ideas. Jennifer Barr has so many to choose from that you just can't miss! I love the 'Affair to Remembers', umbrella tips & summary pages found in each chapter for quick browsing. The ideas she shares, as well as the examples, are extremely helful and very creative. I would recomend this book to anyone considering tackling the job of shower hostess!

I spent days trying to find websites that would give me ideas on bridal and baby showers (I just threw the bridal shower and will throw a baby shower in about 3 weeks.) It took me so long to find these websites, and they all had the same information as each other. I finally broke down and bought this book - I wish I had done it in the first place. It has UNIQUE games (not silly ones) and a section on money and some great recipes. FYI -I made "Lu's clam dip" on page 88 and it was gone about 1/2 of the way through - it was the biggest hit! I would make a double batch if I were you. I used all of the worksheets too, they helped me organize it. I honestly think this will save you time and is well worth the money. Best of luck throwing your shower!

My first shower ever AND I was the hostess. I had no idea where to begin. This book had all the answers (and great recipes too!) and saved the day for me. It covers every detail of planning and is full of tips and reminders that this should be a fun experience and to "not sweat the small stuff." I especially like the author's "An Affair to Remember" which appears throughout, giving lots of interesting historical and fun information. That alone made me look like a pro. My Guest of Honor had a great time, which was the real test. Thank you Jennifer Barr for making my first shower An Affair to Remember.

I really liked this book because it did not try to give you so much information just to fill the pages. All of the hints were smart and well thought out, as were the games and recipes. I got a different book for games (it had 200 games in it) and I found only one or two that were perhaps worthwhile. This book doesn't have many games, but I used almost all of them - they are good ones, not a waste of time. I would recommend this to you if you are planning a shower, bridal or baby. I also used some of the recipes and they turned out very good. I think the SOS scallops were the biggest hit. Some of the drinks turned out great too. Good luck to you! Hint: I used the facts that are throughout the book as my questions/answers in "Bridal Jeopardy". Everyone was interested and enjoyed it!

This book will save women all over the world a world of time. Remember the hours you've spent trying to think of fun games, and activities to keep your engaged or expecting friend's guests entertained? No longer will be on your own while planning showers. The Complete Idiot's Guide: Bridal and Baby Showers provides you with ideas, and suggestions from start to finish. Barr's writing style is both entertaining and easy to follow. This is a must have for every woman's library!

I got this book off of a recommendation from a friend. It's a great resource if you ever plan to host a bridal or baby shower. I threw a baby shower and the games and recipes were a hit. I just gave it to my sister who is throwing a bridal shower - I scanned through those portions and they seem just as good.

I received this book as a gift and it is helping me so much to plan my sister's baby shower for triplets! The author has thought of everything (including sections on showers for multiples!) I thought that it would focus more on bridal showers, but have been pleasantly surprised by the vast amount of information on both baby and bridal showers. I never realized that there was so much to consider! What a great tool, I would highly recommend this to every person who will one day host this type of event.

This is the most fantastic book. It is thorough, easy-to-read and fun! If you know someone who's throwing a shower or if you will be, you MUST get this book. And if you're not planning on throwing a shower, you'll want to after seeing this!

I found the book instrumental in planning the shower I am hosting, especially since I am a host virgin. The author presents all the tiny details that could go wrong, and those that could make your shower perfect. The checklists and worksheets were beneficial to my planning process; I have the budget, plans, and addresses all written in the book for the shower.

The only drawbacks were the themes and games. Unoriginal. I have heard of all of them and have even played most all of the games. I have created my own theme and games.

The book is divided equally between baby and bridal showers, so I know I will be using it again in a few years... Now I feel totally prepared to give the perfect bridal shower!
