About the Author

Susan Ireland is a job counselor and resume writer who has authored four books and one CD-ROM on job hunting. Through her writing, workshops, and individual consultations, Susan has helped thousands of people find jobs they love. In The Complete Idiot's Guide to Cool Jobs for Teens, Susan relied on the experiences of a number of working teens as well as her own work history. Each summer until she graduated from high school, she took a different job within that business while also running a concession stand. She went to Antioch College in Ohio, where she participated in an internship program and held a part-time job.

Susan now lives in California, where she owns a national resume writing and consulting business. Information about her services and her other books can be found on her popular Web site, http://www.susanireland.com.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book for teens, August 27, 2005

This book is packed full with info with teens. Though at some time it seems focused on the obvious (different kinds of jobs) If you're a teen looking for work, check it out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good summaries, good resumes, the rest sucks, August 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Complete Idiot's Guide to Cool Jobs for Teens (Paperback)
I got this book from the library, and I'm glad I did. This book provides helpful descriptions and ideas of jobs, but it didn't provide the information I wanted on how to obtain them. It provides several website links, most of them completely useless. The tips for resume writing were helpful though. Basically, it spends the first 20 pages convincing you that you want a job, about 100 pages listing types of jobs and what's involved for them, and the last 100 talk about resumes, interviews, and applications. The interview tips are simple like "Don't wear gobs of makeup", no big secrets or really helpful info. To conclude, the book is worth a glance, but the library already paid for it, there's no reason for you to.
