I share my home with three Dachshunds and bought this book with skepticism as I don't consider myself an Idiot! However, I really do like this book. The author obviously knows our breed and has tailored the standard Idiot's guide format to the breed. There was some good research done, and great information for both new Dachshund owners and experienced ones. I particularly liked the information on health threats Dachsies face. This book is well worth its cost!

This is a really great book for beginners like me! I have had dogs my entire life but never had a Dachshund and this book really helped me understand the unique ways of these great dogs! I highly recommend it to anyone who want to get or already has a dachshund!

Everything was easy to find and explained in detail, from picking out the perfect dog for you to diseases and problems to look out for. A must have for first time dachshund owners!

This book seems more like an insert breed here kind of book than a book about Dachshunds. I am a first time owner and I found Dachshunds for Dummies a much better book.

This book is fantastic! It's very informative and extremely easy to read and understand. I would recommend it to anyone interested in adding a Dachshund to their family.

Similar to all "Complete Idiot's Guide" books, an excellent book on the subject. The author points out some many important and interesting nuggets of information. When you are done with this book, you both know much more about the beloved weiner dog and whether such a dog is your ideal pet. I got exactly what I wanted to know out of this book; I grew up with a dachshund and enjoyed her. However, I wondered whether I should seriously ever consider getting one now for which I would be entirely responsible. Now I know and I can enjoy knowing the breed from afar without being an incapable owner. Now if only they would write one of these books on Children and Spouses...
