Don't bother, September 30, 2003

This book stinks. I agree with the mother-in-law who said it's mostly filler. The author even makes a point of mentioning she loves her in-laws and gets along with them. It would be good if she were at least writing from a relatable point-of-view. The book contains far too many jokes and not enough substantial, sensible advice. It also tends to deal with the standard in-law issues, when really, so many odd situations can come up. How does the reader figure out how to deal with those? This book won't tell you.

99% Filler, June 27, 2000

I'm sorry. I really needed some help in learning to be the best mother-in-law I could be, so I bought the book. But I found no help in it. It is repetitive beyond belief, full of fluff and filler (although there was one rather good joke), and what advice there was tended to be of the "take a firm line, but be flexible" sort. I'm sure there is good advice out there, but this book -- sad to say -- didn't offer it.
