3.0 out of 5 stars Nah .. Not that good.
Maybe I was overexpecting from this book. But I found it rather boring. It is more like a sex education book for a teenager.
Some times the author is rather didactic.
I don't have a very positive feedback about this book and I don't have much to say against it either.
There is nothing much you would miss if you didn't have this book. Ofcourse it is a...

5.0 out of 5 stars A really good guide to the Kama Sutra., June 3, 2001

This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Kama Sutra (Paperback)
I've been looking for ways to make sex more fulfilling in my marriage of 23 years. My husband thought that a workshop or classroom situation would be uncomfortable and after looking at several books on the Kama Sutra bought two - Anne Hooper's and this. Both are great. What I like about this book is that it is more than the Kama Sutra - it has practical information and great insights into relationship issues like communication, psychological issues, and other factors that get in the way of sex being good.

4.0 out of 5 stars A surprise, September 2, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Kama Sutra (Paperback)
I ordered this book expecting your typical sex manual/self-help guide. It is so much more than that. It deals with all the aspects of the Kama Sutra including the emotional link required to make this work.
I loved this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars What won't they think of next!, March 26, 2005
This book combines two cultural icons between its covers: the Kama Sutra, a near-mythic guide to sex, and the increasingly ubiquitous "Complete Idiot's Guide to..." series.

To see an ancient spiritual guide to sex broken down into a pop-culture format, complete with clip-art and bullet-points, is kind of odd, but this actually works surprisingly well.

By moving the Kama Sutra into the modern age, the book makes the text far more accessible, and moves the concept of the Kama Sutra from something dirty to a practical guide to enhanced sexual enjoyment.

The book features a comprehensive guide to both the male and the female body from a sexual standpoint, and of course has the famous list of positions diagrammed in all their glory. There is also lots of discussion about the spiritual component of sex, and the book serves an added function as a relationship-helper outside of the bedroom. By attuning yourself to your partner's needs, you're certain to become a better lover.

But aspiring Casanovas should beware: there's no checklist of tips that are going to make you a stud/studette. The book has all the knowledge you require to achieve that end, but you might be disappointed at how much you have to work to get there (and how common-sense much of the advice is).

If you're not a spiritual person, you can still take lots of the sensual advice to heart, and rest assured that you and your partner are going to be a lot better off in the sack if you discuss the ideas that this book presents.

This book covers everything you want to know about the Kama Sutra and makes the Indian approach to sex clear as you want it to be - but, the best part is that this book gives you the goods for understanding the psychological and spiritual parts of relationships. Explanations, quizes, exercises help you to understand yourself and your relationship better. The way it is layed out you can open it anywhere and find a gem of understanding or an exercise.

I thought this book would be a basic guide to sexual positions, but it is much more. This book focuses on the entire relationship surrounding the sexual act, and how one can find fulfillment in one's relationship sexually AND emotionally. It is easy to read, and I especially recommend it to those who are either new to sex, or new to sexual and emotional exploration. (By the way, I think this would be a great book for newlyweds!)

I've been interested in Kama Sutra and Tantra and reading over the years. I also have bought a few Idiot's Guides. This is really well written and covers the Kama Sutra in a clear and easy to read style. What I found really helpful is that this book includes relationship skills that are what you would go to a therapist or class to learn. My partner and I use the exercises in this book because they are fun and easy and they make us more aware.

this author marries the ancient and traditional philosophies of the east - the Kama Sutra - with complete and in depth wisdom about of the emotional and psychological aspects of relationships. We found the book inspiring and valuable. In addition to learning ways to please each other. Reading this book and talking about what we were reading led us to open up in new ways and we became closer. I'd say we got our money's worth and then some. Highly reccommended. This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Kama Sutra (Paperback)
These guides impresd me. It is one of the best, if not the best I've bought. It delivered the goods on the Kama Sutra beautifully and then went beyond talking about all matters having to do with sex and relationship with wisdom, humor and exercises that for once, we did. I highly recommend it if you want to learn about the Kama Sutra, but even more if you want to learn about yourself and improve the quality of your love life.
