Ms Herman takes you through pregnancy to adulthood in this all encompassing guide to raising your children to be creative, loving, and have high self esteem. This guide takes you through the REAL world along with Ms Herman as she spins examples of what has happened in her own life and how she and her children have dealt with various stages and experiences that her family has grown through. I appreciate this book for that. It is not all fluff, baby pink and blue, but it deals with life and how to live it and come out proud of your children and of YOU!
I also love the spiritual guidance that she has sprinkled throughout the book. This is not heavy handed, but given in love and it is good advice! She talks about the various spiritual lessons that one goes through in life and it is a resource that I will go back to again and again.
Overall, I would recommend and purchase this book for any parent and I have! The title itself is a stress reliever for new anxious parents and it is a hit at showers. The contents of the book reinforces that angle as it lets you know in a loving way that everyone makes mistakes and it is never too late to start correcting them for your child's sake.

I saw this quote from her book on [...] under introducing new significant other to children after divorce.
My reply is below
She suggest that the new significant other in this case the boyfriend, " bribe them with something forbidden." when he meets them for the first time.
This is just bad advise. Also the statement introduce the new boyfriend, "when you feel that the time is right..."
Be motivated by facts not feelings. Being driven by your hormones is a poor motivation for something so dangerous as bringing in new significant others to meet your children.
You want to know how this person responds under stress. What skills do they have for handling self control and what examples do you have of their honesty and integrity? Do the have a criminal record? Do they have an interest in porn. do they abuse drugs and or alcohol? What is their history of healthy relationships?
Thousands of children are hurt each year, some even killed by new significant others because parents share their parenting time with new boyfriends or girl friends too soon and without knowing more about this new person . Some of this abuse takes place when children are left with these new people as baby sitters.
Just because you care about some one and they care about you does not mean that person is safe to be around your children. Move slowly. Spend time with your new Significant other when the children are with the other parent!
