Idiots Guide is a great start before you buy a scooter.,

I think nearly 40% of the book gives specs and costs on the BETTER scooters on the market. I would endorse all of their suggestions. If you haven't done your research, you can really get burned on a scooter purchase today. China is flooding the market with very cheap scoots so you can either do a lot of front end research or get burned and end up with a disappointment lying in your garage. This book is part of that research. It does NOT however teach you all the maintenance ins-and-outs so don't expect it to be your pocket mechanix guide. If you haven't bought your scooter yet, this is an excellent first read.

There are differences between motorcycling and scootering and I think the authors helped fill this gap. There's some good starter information here as well as details useful for a regular rider.

This is a good book if you are truly a "idiot" about scooters and wish to get up to speed about the basics of these two wheeled wonders. This book will not help much in learning how to repair/maintain a Scooter.
This book can be useful in getting a "significant other " on board about scooters if they just do not know much about them and need some information to make them more comfortable with trying one out. If you have already owned one or two scooters or have done a moderate amount of research on the web you could probably skip this book and find something more technical. You can't beat Amazon for books with free shipping. GROG

The book contains basic introductory information about motor scooters from how to choose one through to buying a new or used one. It is written with a fair amount of generalization, but covers almost every aspect. It is USA oriented in the listing of scooter specifications and pricing, which I view as a plus. With the demand for scooters, manufacturers are quickly changing their products and product mix. So the information may not be there for the exact machine you are considering. I found it a good overview of scooters for someone considering getting one to add to their vehicle stable. I found it well worth the price.

Wow, what a great introduction to scooters! This book has all of the information one needs for someone who is considering buying a scooter or who is just starting out. Even better, it is well-written, practical, and concise. It has a good balance of information on various aspects, such as safety, maintenance, customization, scooter jargon, and social networking. It includes useful pictures, including some unique scooters, as well as specifications for many makes and models. My only quibble, and it is a minor one, is that I found it a bit confusing that the chapter on Protective Clothing was included in the Fun Stuff section, while the chapter on Customizing Your Scooter was included in the What to Expect section. The placement of the chapters seems to be flip-flopped. Nevertheless, I would strongly recommend this guide to anyone who is fairly new to scooters.
