5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books on the Subject
I have a few books on Palmistry, including the classic Cheiro's The Language of the Hands, The Art of hand Reading, and so on and so on. But to be frankly honest with you, none of those books compare to the excellent recourse of information given in this so called "Idiot's guide."

3.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive, but difficult for beginners
This is the first palmistry book I have purchased. It provided a good overview of the many facets of palm reading. I feel like I understand the various things that palm readers observe. However, I did not walk away with an understanding of how to interpret what is observed. A book with sample photos instead of basic sketch drawings might be more helpful.

I have a few books on Palmistry, including the classic Cheiro's The Language of the Hands, The Art of hand Reading, and so on and so on. But to be frankly honest with you, none of those books compare to the excellent recourse of information given in this so called "Idiot's guide."

There is an excellent section on interpreting the phalanges, which buy itself is an art all it's own. Plus everything else is discussed in the book. The mounts, the lines, skin texture, hand shape, and it goes on and on.

This book was my first Idiot's Guide, that I have purchased, and the last book on Palmistry. Being that it was such a well written and easy to understand book, I became obsessed with all things Idiot's Guides. But trust me, an idiot's guide this is not. A Wealth of information. Excellent for the beginners as well as the advanced, there is something to learn for every one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not really for idiots, July 28, 2000
This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Palmistry (Paperback)
Robin Gile has presented an excellent introduction to the art of palmistry, well laid out and very informative. It has many very good illustrations. It also has sound information for the professionals. His work on the fingers is some of the best I have read and I have about 150 books on the subject. The lesson plans are well laid out. I have a few professional disagreements over nomenclature, but these do not detract from the information to be gleaned from the work. Any good library on Palmistry must include this work.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good starting place...., September 10, 2003

This book is wonderfully written and illustrated, but tends to give you too much information at once. I have read several other book on chiromancy (palm reading) that break down this divinational practice to the lowest common denominator!

Highly recommended for someone whom already has a good grasp on this practice.....may be a bit too much for the newbie! Well written (I'm a BIG "complete idiot's guide" fan!!!) and researched. Overall, very good!

Recommended with reservation!

I love this book! The Complete Idiots Guide books are soooooo helpful! they explain things in great detail, and have excercises to help you through. Lisa Lenard is a great author of these books! I would recomend this to anybody wanting to learn about palmistry! Especially Beginners!

1.0 out of 5 stars Out of touch, April 17, 2011
Some of the terminology in this book is demeaning and insulting. For instance the authors refer to a male who is in touch with his feminine side as "fey" and suggests that homosexual men have "too much moon". I hate this book for this reason. I would suggest the OTHER books on palmistry and suggest you skip this outdated insensitive book.

I purchased this book on the advice of a palm reader whom I had taken classes from. It was suggested that this would be the best place to start my informational reading on the subject and craft of plam reading.
I am not disappointed.
The information is presented in an easy to digest and understandable format.
Hight recommend this for the person wanting to gain greater insight into palmistry.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not perfectly accurate or complete, April 2, 2005

First, the review by Ed Cambell (above) is terribly unfair as he is listed in this book as assisting in the final product.

There are parts of the book where the chapter fails to address the "questions" that appear at the beginning of the chapter. So, some of it is incomplete. So, while the description of some chapters tell the reader what the chapter is about, you can finish the chapter and find that it did not live up to its description. This is very odd.

Also, while the author has some very interesting insights, he interprets some lines of the palm is some fairly offbeat ways. If you have been reading palms or have been reading a compendium of palmistry books, you will fine this book a little strange.

Very good starter. There's a lot of information, and I suggest you dip in and out rather than reading it in a block, because you'll overload! A nice introduction to palmistry. Lots about the fingers less about the interconnectedness of the lines (which is something I'm always interested in when I read palms) but very helpful nonetheless

I like this book but it is not my favourite palmistry text. It certainly covers many aspects of palmistry in a humorous and memorable way but I would probably recommend it to someone who has been studying palmistry for a few years.
