The language and layout of this text is accessible and not intimidating at all. I would buy this with a couple of the "Dummies" books on website design and SEO and you would be set for online selling. A major strength of this book is that it relates to all genres of crafters, not just jewelry or soap makers. The author keeps the examples general so her advice applies to everyone. She is also honest about the challenges of making money at this endeavor and that you can't expect to list a website or set up a storefront online and be found right away. Some of the chapters are step-by-step and others are more narrative with both being valuable. If you are open to going slow at this rather than expecting to quit your day job, you'll find this book to be an excellent guide.

While I wouldn't say the book is for idiots, it is pretty basic. While it is inclusive, covering most aspects of both on line and on site selling, from insurance to figuring out prices to tax issues and setting up web sites, some of what is includes is fairly obvious. You have to pay sales and income taxes; at shows you have to set up and tear down a booth; don't sell your crafts if they aren't quality goods. That can be boring to anyone who has done any type of selling at all, or even started looking into it. But if you're a beginner, this is a good book. The author devotes space to *how* to figure out your exact costs, rather than just saying "Figure out your costs", and how to figure out the pros and cons of different craft selling websites, things that people can have trouble with. And while the author is herself a jewelry artist, the information she presents is applicable to any type of crafter.

As stated by other reviewers, this book is quite comprehensive and covers pretty much everything someone who's considering starting their own craft business needs to know. The book starts out with the most basic information necessary for starting out, so it's relevant whether you're starting out small as a casual seller or going whole hog as an active seller. In each chapter, the author went into great detail, regardless of which topic was being discussed.

One of the biggest problems I've had with the idea of selling my crafts was how to price them fairly so I could make a profit without gouging my customers. The author describes very clearly how to figure a price range for both wholesale and retail selling.

However, as good as this book is, I do have one problem with it. That is the URL that goes absolutely nowhere. Throughout the book, the authors refers to a site ([...] com/resources) where readers can go to find resources that complement the book. However, when I type in the URL, I get "Page Not Found." I've tried it on multiple computers both at home and at work, with the same result. The author needs to either remove all references to the link from the book or make sure the page is available. That is the only reason I gave this book four stars instead of five.

Also, I initially bought this book in Kindle version, but I decided to return it and buy the paperback, because the Kindle version does NOT include the table of contents at all. If you want quick, easy access to a particular chapter, you have to bookmark or highlight it. Otherwise, you have to scroll through the entire book to find what you want. However, this small annoyance did not influence my rating of this title. I'm just including it so that buyers can be aware of it.

This book provides basic information on how to begin selling your crafts in different markets. If you are looking to begin or broaden your education on selling, this is a good place to start.
