5.0 out of 5 stars This book is great!
My relative passed away (out of town) and we weren't sure which way to go. Should we hire a mover or rent a U-haul? Found this book for $6.00 at an outlet store. Best $6.00 I ever spent.

It explains how to determine if you should hire a professional mover, or do it yourself. Gives a breakdown of how many rooms of stuff you have vs how big a truck you should...

3.0 out of 5 stars Breezy and a bit shallow
As befits a book in the "Complete Idiot's Guide" series, the book is written in a simple format, with lots of line drawings and a lite view of the process. This review is from: Complete Idiot's Guide to Smart Moving (The Complete Idiot's Guide) (Paperback)
As befits a book in the "Complete Idiot's Guide" series, the book is written in a simple format, with lots of line drawings and a lite view of the process. It is also very complete, lightly touching on just about everything to do with the process of moving. What was missing, I thought, was much help on the emotional adjustment side of moving, especially moving with children. It would be fine for singles or couples who want a fast, upbeat description of what all needs to be covered in a household move. The book appears perfect for a cartoon character I remember from the sixties: "Get-out-of-Town-before-Sundown Brown."

It explains how to determine if you should hire a professional mover, or do it yourself. Gives a breakdown of how many rooms of stuff you have vs how big a truck you should rent. (Too big a truck and your stuff is floating all over the place.) Also details how to pack the truck, , how to hire, what kinds of packing materials to use, what else you need to do before you pack it. The list goes on and on. Includes a checklist of things to do before you go and when you arrive, plus plenty of resources for packing materials.
