As someone who has to really watch her sodium intake, I'm thrilled that this book has turned out to be so great. I own a number of low sodium guidebooks and cookbooks, so I've become very familiar with this category. I've only tried two of the recipes so far, but each was an "out of the park" home run. The first was Just-Like-Mom's Meat Loaf, and, forgive me, Mom, but it was way better. And at 115.8 mg of sodium per serving, it was right in the sodium range that I'm looking for. It was easy to prepare, turned out to be moist with terrific texture, and had a wonderful sweet-spicy sauce. And there was plenty for meat loaf sandwiches, which is one of the best things about meat loaf, the left overs for sandwiches! The second recipe was Tasty Turkey-Stuffed Peppers, and it couldn't have been easier. Even with only one pound of turkey, you'll definitely need very large bell peppers or at least two medium sized peppers. And, again, the left overs were terrific. Another very appreciated feature is that most of the recipes don't call for a ton of ingredients, which make these recipes quick and easy, and best of all, low sodium!

I just tried my first recipe from this book tonight. We had pork chops w/ basalmic glazed apples & onions. We didn't miss the salt in the least. I was so impressed - the flavor was fabulous (and I'm not big on fruit in my entrees). The ingredients were basic - no special trips to the store. Quick to make & quick to clean up. I really appreicate these qualities!

I purchased this book for my elderly mother who needed to reduce her sodium intake due to severe hypertension. She needed to find easy recipes and tips for sodium reduction and this cookbook helped her reduce her sodium intake and her blood pressure is now in a normal range.

This book has many excellent suggestions and recipes for those on a restricted salt diet. Every item in your cupboard is pretty much loaded with salt. Almost every item you pick up in the grocery store is loaded with salt. Forget processed food! Check out 'sodium content' in those burgers/fries, etc. You will be shocked. Great little cook book I've used over and over - and I have many more dishes to try. Americans have to wake up to the tremendous amounts of salt they are consuming. This book spells out some of the dangers and your health is at stake. All of us should be consuming about 2000 grams a day. When you go out for lunch or dinner you automatically go over that limit. Check this all out for yourself and ask your doctor about the dangers of excessive salt in your diet. You can lower your blood pressure and help your hearts health just by following the tips in this book.

I really like this book. The recipes are easy to understand and the ingredients are not too weird. I especially like the fact that all of the nutritional statistics are listed with each recipe - very important when you are tracking all of your food on a daily basis.

This book is most helpful in preparing good, tasteful food for anyone on a low-sodium diet. Dealing with Kidney Disease, High Blood Pressure or Diabetes is somewhat easier when you learn what you should NOT eat. Regardless of your diagnosis, eating should still taste good. It has good, easy to follow recipes to assist with meal planning.

Learning to eat correctly, is healthy for everyone, but eating correctly for those of us who have been diagnosed with Kidney Deficiency/Kidney Disease or Diabetes is critical. Learn all you can, follow your doctor's orders, be as active as possible, eat well, and be happy.

NOTE: This is NOT a cookbook for those already on Dialysis - your doctor and nutritionist will help you determine a proper diet to follow.

After being put on a low sodium diet by my doctor, I thought I was doomed to eat dull food. This cookbook has great recipes with lots of flavor, as well as loads of information on how to stay on your low sodium diet even though you eat out. I recommend it to anyone who wants to lower their sodium intake.
