The Complete Idiot's Guide to Upgrading Your PC pays a great deal of attention to hardware issues that relate to installing and optimizing Windows 95. People who install Windows 95 on their machines and then wonder why everything slowed down will find what they need here. (Hint: Add more memory.) The book also covers keyboard and mouse troubles, printing problems, and hard drive upgrades--there's even advice for owners of ST-506 hard drives, which historians believe to have been installed on the Mayflower. A companion diskette includes some diagnostics and utilities, including a conflict-resolving interrupt swapper.
You'll find Fulton's book to be a yeoman's guide to solving simple hardware problems. Like the competing Dummies book though, you'll want another reference for hairier problems.
- Includes coverage of upgrades for multimedia, laptops, memory, software, and more
- Features an easy-to-follow visual approach that allows readers to install new hardware and software easily
