2.0 out of 5 stars Too general
This book is too general. Maybe for people who never have seen windows is useful. I was looking for technical information but it is not there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for computer illiterate grannys, September 5, 2010
Hi,
This is a very handy book to have for those of us who are older and haven't learned a lot about how the computer operates, This information doesn't come with the computer or at least not with mine. Sometimes the grankids are not around to help and this book just about covers it all. A really great buy.

This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Windows XP (Paperback)
This book was an excellent value. It was listed as used but appears brand new. It was all the seller said it would be and more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Help for non-techies!, June 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Windows XP (Paperback)
This book is easy to read and use for those who are new to the computer and are not familiar with all the technical terms that go along with it. It is not exhaustive but will get you through the basics and help you with simple problems that will come up. I have referred to it often, and I really enjoy his humor. He makes figuring out the computer fun!

Okay, so I'm the guy who wrote the foreword - that doesn't mean I'm totally biased, does it? Paul McFedries put together a thoughtful, easy-to-read, helpful tome on everything WinXP. If you're a newbie to the OS or a grizzled veteran just looking for a few pointers, this book will more than do the job.
