If you've never been camping, you MUST buy this book!, May 17, 1999

This review is from: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Hiking, Camping, and the Great Outdoors (Paperback)
When my son joined cub scouts, our family was faced with going camping for the first time. The smartest thing I did was buy Michael Mouland's guide before I bought anything else. This book assumes you know nothing (which described me), answers all the basic questions and explains the terminology. Good things to know before you hit the sporting goods store. It helped us buy the right kind of tent, sleeping bags, and other gear, avoiding expensive mistakes. This guide is loaded with easy to understand tips and practical advice for beginners. Even now, with a few more trips under our belt, I still consult it for a refresher course before hitting the trail.
