Helpful Information for the Cheese Novice!,

If you are not fortunate enough to live in an area which boasts ready-access to well-stocked cheese shops staffed by knowledgeable sales-folk, exploring the cheese frontier can be a rocky experience, fraught with bad choices and expensive mistakes. Ms Harbutt's easy-to-use guide makes the journey a lot less clumsy. The color photos of the cheeses make the book much more appealing than black-and-white examples in some other volumes. This is the perfect choice for a beginning cheese-lover. You will love the descriptions of taste and texture, and the useful hints on which cheese goes with what accompaniments will delight both newcomers and experts alike. This book would make a great gift for someone who loves unusual food books. Bon apetit!

A useful book, but I did find it to be a bit biased toward hard-to-find English cheeses. Maybe because there are so many of them. Still, it's a good basic book on cheese, well-written and interesting.
