Of the versions available in bookstores, this one I thought to be most comprehensive in content. The graphics are reproductions of original art and not real life couples - which is a relief, and pleasing to the eye.

The presentation falls short in that the book - for it's size - has print too bold, and the graphics are intimidating. But for a person who is looking for a good Kama Sutra to own - for it's artistic and historic significance - this one will work out just great.

This book is good for historical and artistic content. However, if you are looking for something more modern that will show you actual poses, don't get this book.

This is the exact form of the Kama Sutra that I have been looking for. It is illustrated with original Indian artwork. It is an abridged version of the Kama Sutra text but it has the sections that most individuals are most often interested in, the ones on sex. It is not a book that is all about sex but has a large part about relationships and gives some good insight into the Indian culture.

This book gives you not only the original text of the 14th century Kama Sutra, like some other books also do, but it also gives you beautifully photos from very old and newer drawings, medals, pottery and many other art forms. The photos relate to the topic dealt with at that partical episode.
A book you should place for ever in your library, not only the hardcore sex-fanatic, but also every person interested in literature and in the origin of our Western culture.

The Sanskrit translations are innacurate,Deities mis-identified,& images poorly reproduced, oftentimes inexcusably blurry.
Of the vast storehouse of India's absolutely beautiful erotic art, only the worst,most primitive & poorly executed examples are displayed in this book.

I found that this book is a well written piece of work that not only talks about how to get closer to one's partner in bed, but also how to get close to one's partner in life. Simple rules of courtship and love are discussed, and overall, I would recommend this book to anyone searching for a good relationship how to book.

My husband and I read this together and enjoy it with a smile. I just purchased it as a Christmas gift for a newlywed couple in their late sixties who'd never seen it. They love it too! Really a comprehensive "marriage manual," as we used to call such books. A love-making guide covering everything from how to bathe, to flowers in the bed, to positions and ensuring your partner's pleasure. Poetic translation and lovely illustrations in the old Indian style representative of the 2000 year old Vatsayana classic treastise.

I thought this book lived up to its description. The illustrations were many, and artistic. Some of the ancient rituals made me chuckle. It was a very interesting read if you kept it in its historical perspective. If you're looking for porn, this is not your book.

that had a lot of useful information about Hindu customs and how to be a great partner. However, we were looking for something a little more instructive and less religion based. It will sit in our library while I now order something like 365 sex positions to get closer to what I was looking for.

This is a very nice book. Many of the paintings & sculptures featured within its pages hang in art museums in India. It's not simply a picture book of different sexual positions as most would tend to expect. It is more a Vedic cultural view of acceptable social mores relating to marriage, courting & the building love relationships. It does have some "how to" give pleasure instructions throughout, however, I think the intent of the author is more serious (spiritual/historical) than rated XXX.
