The most comprehensive resource on worship,
By Larry Ellis "Author of Forgiveness: Unleashin... (Denver, CO United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Complete Library of Christian Worship (Hardcover)
This is a library organized by the many areas of worship. It is edited by Robert Webber who is one of the formost knowledgable persons alive today on the subject of worship. He has worked with hundreds of experts in the many varied arenas of worship and put together and absolutely invaluable resource. If you want to explore the history of Christian worship through ever generation or compare the many branches of the Christian community around the world and througout all of the past 2000 years, this is the library to purchase. It is becomming relativley difficult to purchase the entire library because they are no longer in print.

This review is from: The Services of the Christian Year (Complete Library of Christian Worship) (Hardcover)
The Services of the Christian Year is volume 5 in the Complete Library of Christian Worship series which is edited by Robert Webber. This book is an excellent resource for evangelicals who need a resource for orders of services and how to celebrate the Christian holy days. It starts with Advent and ends with Christ the King Sunday. This covers the entire Christian year. I am a pastor of a Church of God and used this book to conduct services since Advent began in 2009. We have just come through holy week and this book provides plenty of ideas about how to honor Christ through celebration.
It includes ideas, order of services, explanations of drama events, color schemes for the Lord's table, etc. One interesting feature of this book is that it has a section on how most major denominations view and use the Church calendar. One of my college professors from Lee University (Jerald Daffe) wrote the article on behalf of the Church of God. I would recommend this book for pastors who want to move the Church away from secular ways of keeping holidays in the Church and bring the Church back to rightly focussing on the Church calendar as a Christ honoring way of proclaiming the gospel.
