3.0 out of 5 stars still like the first album
I still feel that her songs on Lila were better. some of the songs here seem mediocre. Some songs even sound alike. the best on here are complete and she remembers love.

Lila has a great voice , no doubt about that, I think I would chuck it if it wasn't for Lila's voice. I still will listen, but I might not wear it out like the album Lila.

In 1997, fifteen year old Lila McCann exploded onto the country music scene with her debut album LILA. Two years later, she followed it up with her sophomore release SOMETHING IN THE AIR, a CD celebrating the pleasures of young love. Now just five months away from her twentieth birthday, Lila is back with her third album, COMPLETE, a "breathtaking, earthshaking" album that is sure to go off, in the immortal words of track #6, "like a rocket."

A lot has happened to Lila in the last two years: her first two albums went gold and platinum respectively, she toured two summers in a row to promote her music, and she graduated from high school, and will never again walk the line between high school student and country star. COMPLETE is a reflection of all these changes and more. For the first time, Lila's music showcases a new, more grown up side of her talent. Her once youthful voice is now lush, mature, and riveting to hear, especially on the albums gorgeous ballads, like "Complete," "She Remembers Love," and "Whisper the Words." At the same time, however, the album shows Lila's ability to sing uptempo, fun songs such as "Like A Rocket," "Come A Little Closer," and "Is It Just Me." The album also allows Lila opportunites to show off her amazing vocal stylings, especially on "Where It Used to Break" and "Mighty Mighty Love." Every song is better than the last, and upon the closing of the album's final track, "Because of You," the listener will be left with nothing but the aching need to press the play button and hear the whole thing again.

If you thought SOMETHING IN THE AIR and LILA were great, COMPLETE is a must for your CD collection. Over the past two years, Lila has done an excellent job of establishing herself as one of country music's most talented stars, and after hearing this incredible album, it is safe to say that her star is long from fading away.

4.0 out of 5 stars Appropriately Titled, July 1, 2001

With her first album in two years, Lila McCann is poised for the overdue commercial breakout she has justly deserved, thanks in large part to an uniformly superb album. While her first two records had some strong material, the overall consistency wasn't there through the entire record. If there's nothing here that conjures the thrill of her first single 'Down Came A Backbird', there's still plenty of great stuff to sink into. While the first single 'Come A Little Closer' is good stuff, the rest of the album outperforms it by a mile, chiefly opening track 'Where It Used To Break', and her command of ballads here far outweighs her previous work in that arena, ably demonstrated on the title track and the album's highlight, 'Whisper The Words'. While she may not have the far-reaching vocal range of Leann Rimes or even Jessica Andrews, her singing is nonetheless superb, bouncing back and forth between playful and passionate and not missing a beat. For those who love either of the aforementioned girls, get this album--it far outweighs recent output from either of them(the recent Jessica Andrews album was unjustly overrated, even by me). Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE NEXT SHANIA, July 14, 2003

This is one of the most complete CD's I have ever purchased, which makes the title of this disc perfect. Lila, I would have to say is one of the most underated artists in country music. Her voice is strong and full of life, and she is definately not hard on the eyes. The track Come A Little Closer rates right up there with some of Shania Twain and Faith Hill's best. The track that caught my attention however is the ballad Whisper The Words. One listen to that track and you would swear you were listening to an angel sing. The CD is fresh from start to finish and never gets old with repeated listenings. Lila is the next big thing in music and has definate crossover potential. Lila McCann-Complete is a must have in any CD library.

With Lila's third release she just continues to WOW her fans. Not only has she matured in her personal life but in her professional life as well. Her voice is filled with so much emotion that you can really get into the songs with her.

Some of the stand out tracks are Mighty Mighty Love, Whisper the Words, and Like a Rocket. This is a CD I listen to from strat to finish. Great work Lila!

5.0 out of 5 stars Completion and Perfection, April 12, 2002
By
This review is from: Complete (Audio CD)
Though Lila's first two CDs were good, her voice never struck me as exceptional before this album. She's always had interesting country pop music, but nothing as incredible as Complete.

One of my picks for 2001, Lila's third album proves that the teen queen of the country scene (we'll just ignore that OTHER girl) really has what it takes. In the time between her last album and this one, Lila stuns all with her improved, spectacular, grown-up voice.

The tracks range from delicate country ballads to upbeat dance tracks with tangy pop-twists. Some highlights would include the Latin-influenced "Come A Little Closer," Dolly-esque "Mighty Mighty Love," the refreshing "Complete," the haunting "She Remembers Love" or the simply outstanding "Whisper the Words."

With "Complete," Lila tries several new styles without straying from her original upbeat and fun country debut. Lila McCann is tomorrow's country legend.

I am a Female Vocalist fan - doesn't matter who (Celine, Martina, etc...) but they have to have a voice that'll give me chills. Lila does that for me - her voice is flawless, the recording is superb and most of the songs on this CD are up-beat. None of that depressing rubish here. This is a great CD for a gal that has all the best years in front of her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shining Star, March 4, 2003
This review is from: Complete (Audio CD)
It's sad that Lila McCann is having trouble getting her music to connect with listeners. This young lady is clearly talented, she has a wonderful voice and a good ear for good music. COMPLETE is her 2001 album, her third album, and there is definite growth. None of the singles really performed well though. The 10 song set is a collection of ballads and uptempo songs, and the songs have similar meanings to each other. The songs deal mostly with the positive aspects of love and life, and there's always faith and hope. The first single was "Come A Little Closer", a nice song, but poor choice for a single in my opinion. The second single was the inspirational ballad "Because of You". The album opens with an uptempo song called "Where It Used To Break", a positive song about getting over heartbreak. The title track is a beautiful ballad that she shines on about that special someone making your life complete. "Mighty Mighty Love", "Like A Rocket", and "Lost In Your Love" have similar meanings but are all great songs, make you want to tap your feet and sing along. The ballad "Whisper The Words" is beautiful and should have been a single. "Is It Just Me" is a fun uptempo song where Lila ponders if there is more to her friendship with a certain someone. The ballad "She Remembers Love" is beautiful and sad, all at the same time. Overall this is a COMPLETE album pardon the pun but its evident and true.

5.0 out of 5 stars *~ Lila McCann. Never expect anything less than her best*~, May 27, 2002

Is this Lila? She's now a mature young women. More mature songs, more mature voice, more mature look. Yep. It's Lila alright! And she's still great! She's really developed a mature singing voice through the years. This CD is great! I love it!

Her songs are drifting towards a different sound than her previous albums but her sound hasnt lost that unique Lila McCann trademark! She has proved she is capable of anything in the music business~

Some of her outstanding songs are Where it Used to Break, Come a Little Closer, Complete, Because of You, and Whisper the Words. All her songs have a genuine sound and I think this cd is terrific~

The title of this Cd is right. Complete. For completely perfect. And shes now completely a young woman. Its a definite muct have cd! If you dont own it, I suggest you get to buying!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, June 27, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Complete (Audio CD)
Lila's my favorite female artist. This CD has definetly showcased her voice to good effect, obviously more adult than the 16 year old who put out Lila. Although this CD is still country, it definetly has a pop flavor. It is pop flavored country as oppossed to the nearly pure pop that many country stations play today. I do think she has a good head on her shoulders and I hope it stays that way.
