This is by far my favorite series of the DK Star Wars books. The locations and maps are excellent and one can spend hours just poring over the detail in one painting. 1.0 out of 5 stars Printed upside-down
My son likes to read the book, and it seems fairly entertaining for someone his age (10). Unfortunately, about 8 pages are bound upside-down and backwards half-way through the book. My son is constantly flipping the book upside-down to read. Amazon could not give me a replacement, because I guess the book became no longer available. Needless to say, very disappointing.

This review is from: The Complete Locations of Star Wars: Inside the Worlds of the Entire Star Wars Saga (Hardcover)
This is by far my favorite series of the DK Star Wars books. The locations and maps are excellent and one can spend hours just poring over the detail in one painting. I've been a Star Wars fan since the age of six in the spring of 1977 and I've always loved the technical aspects os the Star Wars fantasy. This book delivers in spades.

However, this goes for someone who hasn't already purchased, Episode 1 Complete Locations, Episode 2 complete Locations, and Classic Trilogy Complete Locations. As for me, I've already spent $20 per book for the first three and now DK decides to charge $40 (msrp) so I can buy all of it again? Yes, I want the new Revenge locations, as I've mentioned this is a fantastic series, but asking me to spend an additional $20 for material I've already spent $60 on is just poor business.

So, I highly recommend this book for anyone buying these for the first time - 5 stars. For anyone who has already purchased this series in years past - do as I will do. I will buy this book and then return the prior ones to the brick & mortar bookstore (it's ok, I used to manage one of them superstores, they just put it on the shelf and sell it again or return it to DK for credit) - 3 stars to DK for that marketing ploy.

In the end - 4 stars overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite detail and in-depth look into locations like we never before dreamed!, January 13, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Complete Locations of Star Wars: Inside the Worlds of the Entire Star Wars Saga (Hardcover)
Prepare yourself.

This book is loaded! The detail on every page is incredible! The artists must have spent several hundred hours on each drawing!

Every single Episode in the Saga is represented, with Episode III being the only one to have not been previously released as a seperate volume. Luckily for me I hadn't seen them before, so all of the content was new to me.

BATTLES:
Naboo, Geonosis, Courusant "space", Endor, Death Star(s), Hoth

CHASE SEQUENCES:
(including maps with paths/routes defined and color-coded)
Endor speeder bikes, Couruscant speeder chase, Pod race, Luke's Dagoba training sequence, Geonosis Dooku chase, Geonosis Droid Factory

DUELS:
Naboo Qui-Gon vs Maul, Mustafar Obi vs Ani, Bespin Vader vs Luke, Death Star II Emperor vs Vader vs Luke

CITIES:
Mos Espa & Mos Eisly & Tosche Station, Tatooine; Tipoca City & Military Complex, Kamino; Geonosis; Couruscant; Grassy Plains& Theed & Otoh Gunga, Naboo; Pau City, Utapau; Mustafar; Polis Massa; Cloud City; Ewok Village, Endor; Death Stars I & II

BUILDINGS:
Theed Hangar; Watto's Junkshop; Anakin's Hovel; Galactic Senate; Jedi Temple; Couruscant Outlander Club; Kamino Military Complex; Geonosis Droid Factory; Geonosis Execution Arena; Palpatine's Office; Wookiee Tree; Mustafar Mines; Polis Massa; Sith Medcenter; Lars Homestead; Ben's House; Mos Eisley Cantina; Death Star; Yavin 4 Massassi Temple; Yoda's House; Cloud City Processing Vane; Jabba's Palace; Jabba's Throne Room; Emperor's Lair on Death Star II; Executor Command Tower

In additon to all the above, you get various Battlefronts, Spaceports, Planet Profiles and Starship descriptions! Every page is loaded with detail, both in picture and words.

While the Jedi Temple Complex is included, unfortunately it doesn't show us where specific events from Episode III happened. Events such as the infamous Jedi slaughter, where we see Yoda and Obi walking up to the pile of dead padawans and corpses all around, or the Younglings' room where Anakin murders the poor children, or even Bail's confrontation with the Clones. One can only guess.

Padme's Apartment is also neglected, as is her Naboo home and vacation spot from Episode II. One location I particularly miss is the Couruscant Opera House, where Palpatinie "seduced" Anakin to the dark side with his story of Darth Plageous. Hopefully we will see an extended edition one day with all of these locales!

Suffice it to say that this book is an absolute steal for this price and a must have for all Star Wars "geeks" who love trivia and details!

5.0 out of 5 stars A jaw-dropping guide to the vehicles/buildings in Star Wars, January 21, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Complete Locations of Star Wars: Inside the Worlds of the Entire Star Wars Saga (Hardcover)
First of all, this book is over 100 pages unlike the per-movie vehicle guides. Once I opened this book, my jaw hit the floor. The detail of the drawings was astounding! These artists (they should be called masters) have toiled for months and they have made one of the best Star Wars guides ever. You can see the battles, the buildings, the cities, the duels, etc. and notice all the little details.

Hands down, this book is AWESOME.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Star Wars Must Have, February 22, 2006
This review is from: The Complete Locations of Star Wars: Inside the Worlds of the Entire Star Wars Saga (Hardcover)
This book shows everything you ever wanted to know about the Star Wars saga. It's an amazing artistic view of the locations with intricately drawn 3-D maps as well as colorful pictures. It adds reality to what you see on the screen. I highly recommend this authoritative book to be a key part of your Star Wars library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hypnotic Journey into Star Wars, April 18, 2007
This review is from: The Complete Locations of Star Wars: Inside the Worlds of the Entire Star Wars Saga (Hardcover)
Star Wars fans will easily get lost in the fantasy worlds so brilliantly evoked in this book. Thousands of hours have been expended by hugely talented artists and writers to bring to life the small and large details of the Star Wars galaxy.

I'm grateful that someone in the Lucas creative hierarchy gave these artists the go-ahead to add new story exposition and perspective that was never in the movies. Fascinating new detail - did you know that Ben Kenobi had a secret basement in his house on Tatooine? Its shown here, along with what he hides in it. Did you know the Cantina in Mos Eisley was owned by a Wookie who bugs his customer's conversations? Did you know the carbonite freezing chamber in the Cloud City on Bespin was inside the gas processing vane? These and a thousand other details provide the essential Star Wars backstory and immersion craved by true fans.

This is a book to be read and examined slowly, preferably at night before sleeping, because your dreams will be of Star Wars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Star Wars Complete Locations, January 4, 2007
This review is from: The Complete Locations of Star Wars: Inside the Worlds of the Entire Star Wars Saga (Hardcover)
This is an excellent resource book for the Star Wars fan! If you've purchased any of the Incredible Cross-Sections book in the DK series then this book is the perfect companion. While the other books detail the various vehicles from the movie, this book offers incredible detail of every location in all 6 episodes of the saga. As an admirer of the original trilogy I particularly like the sections on the Death Star and the Hoth Rebel Base. Even if Star Wars is not your thing, this book is filled with facinating artwork and details for anyone to enjoy.

While 'complete' may be an overstatement, the guide covers most of the key locations in the various episodes. Definitely an excellent reference for sw fans.
