Product Description

This e-book is a detailed look at Adrenal Fatigue symptoms, diagnosis and treatment by a fellow sufferer, who has experienced this stress-related syndrome. I, the author have also found treatments and lifestyle change methods that have been tremendously effective in relieving my symptoms.

In the year 2003, during a time I was developing autoimmune thyroid disease and going through a prolonged and severe period of stress (chronic), I experienced this very real illness that results in mildly diminished adrenal function.

I located doctors who were able to diagnose my Adrenal Fatigue through testing, which determined that the low functioning adrenal syndrome was co-morbid (co-occurring) to my thyroid disease.

With Adrenal Fatigue being a sub-clinical condition and not full blown adrenal insufficiency, many doctors will not recognize or treat the syndrome. There are however highly reputable medical research articles that have been published, describing sub-clinical adrenal insufficient states as related to certain illnesses and stress syndromes.

Some of the health conditions that may result in Adrenal Fatigue, or that may include it as a feature of them, include Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

For the majority of Adrenal Fatigue sufferers, they began experiencing the syndrome due to chronic stress and not due to other co-morbid health conditions. Some of them refer to the symptoms of mild adrenal hypofunction as feeling "stressed out" all of the time.

There is hope of recovery and for some patients they will see full recovery and prevention of the syndrome from re-occurring. It is important however, to become well-educated about this sometimes debilitating health condition, so that one can see the best results from treatment and recovery of a better quality-of-life.

This ebook contains warnings in regard to cortisol treatments for Adrenal Fatigue (cortical-steroids) but IS NOT “anti-cortisol in regard to treatment options. What is actually stated is the fact that non-steroid treatments are preferred and should be attempted first due to the potential side-effects corticosteroids can cause.

It is also stated in the ebook that if a cortical-steroid is administered, it needs a qualified Dr. supervising the treatment, who can also perform follow-up blood retest monitoring of the treatment.

Ebook Quotes:

"Some Doctors, who do treat Adrenal Fatigue with Cortef or Prednisone, will administer it in very small physiological doses and in so doing, can usually avoid complications..."

"If you are placed on a corticosteroid for Adrenal Fatigue, you'll need close supervision by your Doctor in getting better adjusted on dose or weaned off of the medication when needed."

CAUTION is recommended in regard to the decision to take a corticosteroid treatment and close monitoring of a dose when-administered but is not discouraged for those who are determined to be in genuine need of this option. Taking a steroid regardless of the need for it that is done as a snap-decision rather than a well-informed one, is not wise from any viewpoint.

I have endeavored in this e-book, to offer an educational resource to sufferers of Adrenal Fatigue. I have previously served as editor for Thyroid Health at BellaOnline.com and as a health writer for Suite101.com-General Health, where I was awarded three Editor's Choice Awards.

I enjoyed the ebook and I think the advice about getting cortisol drugs only if really needed was offered in a balanced way.

2.0 out of 5 stars Anti-cortisol e-book, October 19, 2009

This review is from: A Complete Look at Adrenal Fatigue (Kindle Edition)
Warning: This e-book has a strong anti-cortisol message, that is not backed up with evidence. If you suffer from adrenal fatigue and are obtaining relief with low doses of hydrocortisone, stick to books by people with experience in this treatment who find it to be safe and helpful: "From Fatigued to Fantastic," by Teitelbaum and "Fat, Fuzzy, or Frazzled," by the Shames. Even "Adrenal Fatigue," by Wilson will admit that low-dose hydrocortisone therapy (in conjunction with adrenal extracts) can be very helpful for people with severe adrenal fatigue.

On the plus side, I liked the connections this author made between post-traumatic stress disorder, early childhood trauma, and adrenal fatigue.

More About the Author

A husband, father and grandfather, I've been a contract salesman most of my life. During the early 1990s, I marketed an outdoors product I invented and that I formed a small corporation to patent, manufacture and sell called the "Rod Floater" (now a registered Trademark). I traveled the U.S. making presentations to groups of Wal-Mart zone and district managers and received authorization to sell the product in two regions of Wal-Mart stores for five years.

I also sold the product to Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's and Academy Stores, all of which still carry the product and I landed a national promotion for the product with Kerr-McGee Oil company who began using the product to promote their "Mystik Brand" outboard motor oil in 1992. In 1996 I licensed the product to TTI-Blakemore, a major fishing tackle conglomerate, from which I am still paid monthly royalties from sales of the product.

I invented and marketed five additional outdoors products, also getting these into Wal-Mart stores and afterward sold them outright rather than licensing them. I learned a great deal about invention marketing during those years and was privileged to meet the CEOs of many well-known companies. I was also invited for television and radio appearances and met with the T.V. hosts of many fishing shows and was featured in the May 2001 issue of Inventors digest magazine. I enjoy writing books, e-books and articles on the subject of invention marketing.

I received a diploma from Liberty University for completion of theological studies in 1996. I served as a youth minister, Bible teacher and guest speaker in fundamental, evangelical Christian churches, from 1983 to 2001. I enjoy writing books and articles on Bible subjects as well.

In 2003 I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism; "Hashimoto's thyroiditis" being the cause. This autoimmune form of thyroid disease that causes destruction of the thyroid gland resulted in my also developing "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome", due to a compromised immune system with severe co-morbid "Adrenal Fatigue". I also suffered severe anxiety symptoms, including panic attacks early into the onset of Hashimoto's thyroiditis (Hashitoxicosis). A common heart murmur I was diagnosed with in my teens called "Mitral Valve Prolapse", also worsened in severity of symptoms, with the development of these other health disorders.

My eventual receiving of a diagnosis was a difficult process with proper diagnostic testing not being ordered by the first doctors I sought treatment from. These types of issues were inspiration for me to become proactive in my own health care and to self-educate myself on these health disorders, which I have done extensively since 2003. I now enjoy sharing this information with other patients experiencing my same health disorders, through e-books, books and articles.
