5.0 out of 5 stars Casanova, Far Better Than Fiction
This edition is a bargain!
It is the least costly and has a working table of contents, a greatly underrated classic. It's a sleeper admired by Mark Twain and many others. I read all the volumes at the age of 18 and now at 75 found it as delightful.

Arthur Machen did a superb job with the limited translation he had to work with at the time. This is one of...

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to navigate.
It's a great book for 99 cents, so it's hard to complain. But it's also a long book, so the lack of a table of contents is irksome. This is the public domain translation by Arthur Machen. There are other versions of this translation in the Kindle store that have a table of contents and are easier to navigate.

Arthur Machen did a superb job with the limited translation he had to work with at the time. This is one of the great raconteur books of all times. It shows rare honesty, incite and a very amusing very detailed unique look at life from top to bottom in the 18th century.

As a Casanova-file I would like to suggest that Kindle eventually provides the fine new translation of the now available complete manuscript by Willard A.Trask.

I downloaded the first few volumes for my Kindle on a whim. After reading those, I had to download the rest. I was greatly surprised that I hadn't known anyone to speak about this memoir - it's excellent. Casanova is an adept storyteller and he lived quite an interesting life, you'll enjoy it.
