Donny Lowy has written the perfect guide to getting started in the mail order business. His chapters, some of them very short, supply the information a beginner needs to first stay out of trouble (he stresses the need for good legal and accounting professionals) and then to do well in what can become an amzingly lucrative business. Mr. Lowy's examples are sound and helpful, and he supplies names and web site addresses of valuable resources. An excellent book for anyone who is serious about starting a business, I recommend it highly.

As soon as you start reading you will instantly realize that Donny Lowy knows his stuff. His advice on starting and running a mail order business is excellent. He shows you in detail how you can launch your mail order campaign without having to spend money, while selling products carried and delivered by others. He shows you how to set up true drop shipping relationships and how to find honest companies that will be willing to work with you in a real drop shipping relationship. This information is appropriate if you have a web site and you want to sell unique products that can be delivered directly to your customers by your suppliers.

While the content of this book is just okay - more of a kumbaya "you can do it" kind of thing, I am frustrated that someone can get away with selling a book for $20 that literally has typos on every page. I feel totally ripped off, like I was scammed by someone who didn't even bother to read his book once through to check for errors.

Fantastic book on how to sell through the mail, through magazine or newspaper advertisements, or through any type of media for that matter. Glad I read it.

The truth is that there is no difference between the foundation of running a mail order or internet business. The need for good sales copy, product presentation, and advertising are just as important in both businesses.
By studying how to make money in mail order you will also learn how to make money online, and you will be ahead of most people doing business on the internet who have never learned the basic skills needed to sell in distance selling.
I use the phrase distance selling because in both situations you are selling to people who have never met you for the most part, and do not have a chance to talk to you in person before making their purchasing decisions.

If you don't know what a sales ratio is, or don't have a sales ratio of more than 1%, then you need to get serious and read this book.

His books are easy reads and very informative.

Aside from the obvious grammatical errors (what comes with vanity publishers), this is a great book. I like what Lowy says about how you can start any mail order business you want, and how it can be very profitable if done right. Though somewhat short, this book cuts to the chase and is one of the best books on the mail order business I've ever read. Any aspiring mail order entreprenuer should own this book - you won't regret it.
