Oustanding Joplin, December 2, 2011

I have Scott Kirby's earlier set of Scott Joplin rags, so I was wondering if I needed the new set. I listened to samples on Viridiana's Web site and decided to order this. I'm glad I did, as the recording quality is considerably better, the piano is better, and Kirby himself has learned more about the music. Some musicians become academic with experience, but Kirby seems to have used increased skill to go more deeply into the music and bring out subtle elements.
Ragtime is always a delight. Kirby plays the music with both skill and delight.
