Though the translation is enjoyable, the edition is somewhat dreary.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book is certainly better than Livy's book October 1, 2014

This book is certainly better than Livy's book, but I am disappointed that the "illustrated" claim in your ad was not fulfilled. On a few occasions there have been notes in the book referring to these illustrations, but none are in evidence. The narrative is fine, however, and I like the way Plutarch sometimes offers the differing views of other historians on a given event.

I liked the comparisons between the Greek and Romans. Lets you see the similarities between these two great civilizations and the people who ran things and others who affected these different societies.
