5.0 out of 5 stars Simply helpful May 10, 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Where to begin...I spend much time in school learning theory after theory but with limited learning on how to apply them and how to make them work. Much time is spent on pathology and what it looks like and how to diagnosis using the DSM-IV-TR, but not much time is spent on using the techniques, so I picked up this book and wow what a helpful piece of writing. It gives you many ideas on where to go with your treatment and what some of the goals you should have during treatment.

The book focuses on EBP and treatment and is a great resource on creating treatment plans once the diagnosis has been established.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid guide for counseling May 22, 2007
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The Complete Adult Psychotherapy Treatment Planner is an excellent help to the counselor. After a quick check of the behavioral definitions for verification, one can then find appropriate therapeutic interventions to put in one's toolbox for use if needed. Another important application for this planner is in writing treatment plans that insurance companies and other payors will accept. This is a mainstay of my office library.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Complete Adult Psychotherapy Treatment Planner January 6, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is the third time that I'm buying this treatment planner. I've had to leave it at the past 2 companies where it was passed around by all of the mental health case managers. My peers and I have used it as a guide to assist us with writing treatment plans. I have received many compliments over the years on the interventions that I have written with the aid of this book. It is a wonderful guide and a helpful cure for writer's block!

5.0 out of 5 stars Priceless February 2, 2007
Format:Paperback
I think I have every planner they make and have found them irreplacable in my practice. They provide thoughtful and insightful content in order for me to develop my own treatment plans and homework assignments. Highly recommended for any clinician.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful, but for new practitioners.... June 19, 2011
Format:Paperback
This is a very helpful text for mental health practitioners. I use it regularly in practice. It is vital, along with the companion Progress Notes Planner, for surviving in a managed care environment that seeks to deeply limit or, much preferrably for insurance companies, eliminate completely, the provision of mental health care for the populace through a strategy of burdening the provider to the point of withdrawl from practice. No provider, no service's provided. Very simple equation.

Having used the third edition and reviewed the fourth, there is substantial similarity. For those new practitioners just starting out, with limited financial resources, enormous student debt, and desperately trying to build a practice, while limiting start up and ongoing overhead costs, given the substantial costs of professional books, a used third edition is completely workable for your new practice or first or second agency employment position.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book April 16, 2009
Format:Paperback
This is a great book to have if you are working on treatment plans. I had to do several this semester, this book walks you throught a treatment plan step by step as well as giving you specific suggestions. The book is broken down by diagnosis so is even better, if you are looking for anything specific like phobias all you have to do is look in the table of contents to find where it is. I would really recommend this book=)

Although I purchased this because it was a requirement for class, I do not regret it at all. It is invaluable as a treatment planning, documentation tool, I think I use it almost everyday I am working. It is easy to follow and offers so many suggestions you are almost sure to find something that helps you. I'm looking forward to purchasing others in the series.
