Ole time blues and jazz,
This review is from: Complete Recorded Works 2 (1925-45) (Audio CD)
yes, if you don't mind old and occasionally scratchy recordings, this is magnificent music, with one of the old-time great blues artist,
accompanied on quite a few tracks by one and only Louis Armstrong (other musicians include Clarence Williams and others mentioned on cover of the cd). The voice dominates the record, with other musicians in subservient role, supporting the star. BTW - these are the last Sippie Wallace cuts before she made a great comeback in her 60s. Equally appealing for the jazz fans and blues fans (but those who like old jazz and blues)this CD (part of a very very commendable complete-chronological project) is a keeper. If you manage to find it, that is.
