Great blues singer from the 1920's...,

Lucille Hegiman was one of the finest blues singers to emerge from the 20's classic blues craze. She sings on the same level as Bessie Smith or Ida Cox. Her voice is clear, and diction perfect, she's able to swing on an uptempo number, and moan on a torch song. A very versitile vocalsist who made a small comeback in the 60's on an exellent Riverside LP "Songs We Tought Your Mother"(also available on CD and recomended). This CD will give you an idea as to why she was a superior vocalist of the 1920's.

A GREAT BLUES/TORCH SINGER. wHO LATER IN HER CAREER WOULD RECORD THE CLASSIC ALBUM "sONGS WE TOUGHT YOUR MOTHER" WITH ALBERTA HUNTER AND VICTORIA SPIVEY.
