5.0 out of 5 stars Runner's Day-By-Day Log
This is my favorite running log. It's pre-dated for the year and has plenty of room for information. It also has motivating quotes on each week, as well as great running tips and pictures. Try it! You won't be sorry!

3.0 out of 5 stars Calendar vs. log
It does have space for each day of the year, preprinted with day, date, and number of each day (Julian calendar date), Monday to Sunday. It has space for where and when, comments, and distance run for each day. It has space for weekly weight and distance carried over from the previous week. At the end it has a four-page bar graph for cumulative mileage, a page to...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best There Is, November 9, 2006
I purchased the first Runner's Day-by-Day Log published in 1979. I have purchased each one since, and have kept them all organized in three neat stacks. A fourth will have to be started. The best part of the Log is the room it leaves each day for writing about your runs. Plus, I like the page at the back where you can summarize all your races. The picture of a runner's legs on the front cover are the legs of the original author, Jim Fixx. His legs have been on each cover since 1979. If I have a complaint it would be that they make you start your calendar of running on January 1. In the 1984 Log they started publishing a 15-month calendar beginning on October 1. This was perfect for me because I started my Log entries on November 7, 1979. In 1993, to save publishing costs I gather, they reverted back to a 12-month calendar beginning on January 1. It's a niggling complaint though; one of those "it was better back then" laments.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful tool for runners., January 29, 2007

I have used this log for the first time in 2006 and for me, recording my progress and injuries helps me see what works and what doesn't in my traning. This log is great for recording personal bests, writing splits for interval workouts, and also keeping a journal of how you felt on a certain run. The log keeps tab on the number of miles you bank in a week and total up at the end of the year. It also keeps a record of races which is helpful to see if my performance is improving. Compared to other journals I have used in the past, this one is more organized and allows more room to write your thoughts, miles, times, injuries, etc. I also like to keep this journal as a keepsake as my performance progresses and as I become a more seasoned runner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile tradition, December 19, 2006

From the early 80's on, this book has become an annual staple beneath my family Christmas tree. Not only do I use it to record my workouts but also special events and ideas (children's births, runs on a special vacation, etc.). After 20+ years my training logs are also a little like a memoir. The design is clean and compact and I like the inspirational articles. My only complaint is that I enjoyed when the book featured a greater variety of running pictures. The current ones are good but I just like to see different runners.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good running diary, December 29, 2007

As this is now my 30th anniversary I can't help but plug this product. I've been logging my runs in this journal series since 2000. I've now moved to a blog format as well but still keep a record in print. This is a nice permanent way to keep track of my training. The quotes and monthly articles are entertaining and helpful and there is something special about being able to flip through the pages to see what you've accomplished over the years.

It does have space for each day of the year, preprinted with day, date, and number of each day (Julian calendar date), Monday to Sunday. It has space for where and when, comments, and distance run for each day. It has space for weekly weight and distance carried over from the previous week. At the end it has a four-page bar graph for cumulative mileage, a page to record race data, and a table of split times for the marathon at various paces.

With Monday - Friday on one page, Saturday, Sunday and a photograph on the other page, there really isn't much room to record both run data and calendar events. The publishers description of what is there must be from a previous edition. The monthly essay and weekly tip or quote are ok.

I'm still trying to develop a format to record all the data I want to capture, but perhaps that is the difference between a calendar and a log.

Good if you need a place to plan a few daily activities, and capture a little data. Not so good if you are motivated by filling in the blanks and working with the data to find what works and what doesn't.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Hard Copy Running Log Out there, March 29, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a very good paper running log. It's set up Monday to Sunday, matching most long distance training programs. It has nice quotes, adequate space for Notes, time, distance, etc. The photos are a bit dated, but it's a nice construct. It would be nice if this were offered in an on-line (download) version that could be run from our computers at home.
