I have just returned from tossing this auto litter box in the trash. I have for the last time cleaned the floor and spent a lot of money on cartridges. Hopefully, my hard wood floor is just wet and not stained! The cartridges barely last 10 days with two normal size cats, in the long run it is very expensive. If you don't catch the litter the minute it is saturated and try to pick up a wet cardboard container you will have a disgusting mess and yes the Forever Litter trays fit ok but not tightly against the sides and if your cat is a side "doer" it will leak.

I'd rather scoop a few times a day, have a clean area around the litter box and not be stepping on the litter crystals all day long because they do track. With hardwood floors they act like sandpaper. What a waste of money ... again. If it works for you that's great, but after this period of using it I am unimpressed, hate the cost and hate the mess. My litter box never smelled because I scooped a few times a day and didn't have any problems, the cats love a regular litter box and normal litter. About the only investment I may now make is do an Ikea hack and create a table for the box to go under so it is not "out there". Ikea Hol storage box here I come.

I've had the Scoop Free for a few months now, but when the last batch of crystals is used its going into my storage unit. The unit works and works well, I don't like the crystals at all, they are all over the house, are hard when stepped on and one filling only lasts about a week and a half. Maybe it works better with one cat, I have two and the crystals barely last 10 days which is pretty expensive. The one thing that I really don't like is that the sides are very low and if you have a "digger" those crystals are everywhere. Also if your cat happens to urinate next to the wall of unit some will leak onto the floor because the tray isn't attached to the unit itself. At first I loved it, though it can be loud at times but as the weeks have worn on my love has diminished to "it's ok". My cats don't really care for the crystals either. I am dusting off my Lucky Champ covered litter box and going back to that.

So, yes, this litter box is a bit pricey... then add the REALLY expensive disposable bases and it's down right ridiculous. But, after doing research I decided to try it. So I spent the $130 on the box, then the additional $30 for the reusable base (which is a MUST), then began buying the crystal litter through Amazon for $15 for 2 bags (which last approx 1 month). So close to $200 spent, and I agree it was an investment, but I really love this litter box!

First, I have only 1 cat and he isn't a big cat. I am not sure that this litter box would fit a large cat easily. I am also not sure how long the bags of litter would last if I had more then 1 cat, with just 1 I go through a bag about every 2-3 weeks. It's also a little noisy and scared my cat at first, but now it doesn't bother him at all.

When it comes right down to it though, I love this litter box because I can clean it out and forget about it for 2 weeks! There is also VERY little smell. The litter box is in my guest bathroom and there is no litter box smell to worry about when people come over. It was a bit expensive to begin with, but for my 1 cat and the fact that I don't have to think about it in between cleanings it was worth every penny.

I've owned several automatic litter boxes. I used to rate Scoop Free one as a 5-star product and spread the word around. However, the quality of the litter cartridges has changed so dramatically over the past year and a half or so, it just doesn't work as designed. The amount of litter has been reduced, and now the poop cover has been removed.

I have just spent 10 minutes on my hands and knees cleaning poop off of this box. Without the cardboard flap in the cartridge covering the poop, there's nothing to block the smell, there's nothing to keep bits getting stuck on the plastic cover and then being scraped and spread along the sides. I've tried the Forever Litter tray. I stopped using it because it did nothing to block the odor when changing the litter.

The main benefits of the box were:

1) long lasting box between litter changes - no longer true - the crystal quantity/quality was changed, and
2) quick, painless, odorless litter changes - also no longer true.

I've had a cat in our household for over 25 years. Until three years ago, like all cat owners, I was tied to the disgusting requirement of maintaining a litter box. Then I discovered Scoop Free! I only have one cat, but I have two of these because I frequently travel and I didn't want to risk something going wrong with one while I was away leaving the kitty without a clean box daily. That has proved to be of no concern as both boxes have functioned perfectly for over three years. Yes, the initial investment is costly, but it is well worth it, including the slight added cost of the model with the digital counter and hood. Plus, the company has an online service that automatically delivers the refill boxes to your door as needed. My cat has never soiled anything in the house since I started using this system. He loves that the box is always clean. Unlike the other reviewer, I have NEVER had urine soak through the bottom, and I change the pre-filled cardboard boxes only after the automatic counter shows the kitty has entered the box at least 30 times. Additionally, there is no odor whatsoever in the laundry room where the boxes are kept. Perhaps satisfaction with this product is somewhat determined by the particular cat's habits and elimination frequency, but any problem there would seem to exist no matter what system one uses. For me, it has created total freedom from cat odors, accidents elsewhere in the house, and the nauseating task of cleaning the litter box. I can't imagine ever going back to the old way. This is an ingenious and great product!

I read all the reviews on Amazon before I purchased this item. I set it up by the old litter box and the cats eventually started to use this new box. I have two cats and one of them really loves to watch the machine in motion. Sometimes she even tries to attack the machine but it's nothing major. It runs very smooth and so much quieter than other automatic litter box I purchased before. I really like this box especially it saves me a lot of time everyday cleaning it. Also, I am pregnant so I am trying to avoid any contact with litter directly and this box really helps a lot. The disadvantage of this item is the pricy refill. I went to local store and it's about $16 per cartridge. For two cats at home, I have to replace it every 10 days (just exactly like the manufacturer recommends). So it's like $64 a month. It's quite an expense comparing to the manual scoop. I'm definitely going to look around for the cartridge alternatives on other website (such as buying crystal litter that fits this machine and also the plastic cartridge).

I purchased this box a few weeks ago and it has been a miracle! I was fed up with my incredibly sweet and loving cat who had been pooping on the floor instead of in the litter box for months and months, no matter what I did. I decided that I would shell out the money for an auto box to see what would happen and my cat LOVES it. She hasn't had a single accident and she gets really excited to watch it clean. I think she even goes in there more than normal. Well worth the money, easy setup. The best part is that I haven't had to clean or touch the box and there isn't a smell!

Having had a Litter Maid years ago when I had a cat, I wanted to see what was new now that I had obtained a new cat from the shelter. Seti died about 10 years ago and I just decided it was time to start with a new furry friend. I researched the automatic litter trays and decided to give this one a go. I really like it a lot! My cat must, however put out more urine that others as there is no way I can let Sheba's tray go longer than a week and a half. She is a big cat at 13 pounds. Bigger than Seti for sure. This is a perfect litter manager for an apartment dweller with no place to walk a cat (yes, cats can be walked). Carol

The product works as stated and my wife's cat seems to like it.No problems and much less hassle.

I love this litter box. I purchased it when I found out I was pregnant, and my husband would only clean the litter box once every two to three weeks. My cat had no trouble adjusting to it. It never smells. I have had no trouble with it at all.

I cannot believe how great this thing works. Wonderful! My cat has never hesitated to use it. Thanks to whomever is responsible!
