The great Enrico Caruso went to synagogue services to listen to Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt;like Caruso-Rosenblatt,who died at 51 in 1933- is still considered to be the greatest cantor,ever.This collection is worth the price for his rendition of 'Kol Nidre'(all vows),the prayer which comes at the beginning of Yom Kippur and which petitions God to not hold us accountable for vows made under duress.I judge all "modern" cantors by Rosenblatt's trademark "tear in the voice",particularly in this beaautiful prayer.Unfortunately,most modern cantors are obviously frustrated opera singers-who Caruso wouldn't waste his time listening to.

This selection of high holy day prayers by the legendary Cantor Josef (Yossele) Rosenblatt offers a superb selection of Cantor Rosenblatt's renditions for S'lichos, Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Given the age of the recordings a fine job has been done, as the sound is quite good. Cantor Rosenblatt still reigns, after all these years, as the king of Cantors!
