Very happy to hear that the jazz label from Spain has rescue all this material from the vaults with a very decent sound quality. The combination of intense bebop pianist Sonny Clark and long time top clarinetist Buddy de Franco seems rare but the results are outstanding because the nervous virtuosity of the later gets balanced by the solid piano playing by Clark. Both of them play inspired and solidly indeed. This is pure bebop played beautifully and masterly, very different from other sessions from Clark much more intense and hardboppish. It is a double cd with 27 tracks, most of them standards, including "Autumn leaves" and "I'll remember April" exposed in a very orthodox but pretty way. Important to say that De Franco is the only front line instrument (it is a quartet) so if you are not a fan of the clarinet skip this one, cause there are thousands of notes flying out of De Franco, but if you like the instrument, this a must. A classic, uncomplicated, beautiful double cd by an unusual but very efficient pair.
