This book is an absolute necessity for anyone who plans to raise a dog. Filled with practical examples and wisdom, Betsy Rosenfeld gives readers all the information they need about choosing a dog -- from housebreaking to pet food to trips to the vet to all manner of sundry issues, this book is the bible for a single person who wants a canine best friend. Betsy answers all the questions that confront a potential dog owner, and she addresses those most difficult topics - spoiler alert: the section about saying goodbye to that best friend is a tear jerker - with grace and eloquence. Her personal stories are unforgettable - a fitting tribute to Betsy's beloved Bella - and a resource you will call upon whenever Rex or Ranger or Rusty (that's just the R's!) wins your heart and licks your face.
