This is Not a book for beginning owners.,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Complete Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier (Hardcover)
I had decided that by looks alone I wanted to learn more about the adorable Wheaten and searched for the comprehensive book designed with the beginner in mind. What I found was more of a guide to the lineage and breeder ranking for world class show dogs. This was not what a first time want- to- be dog owner has in mind. The word "complete" is a misrepresentation. I would not recommend this book to a novice such as myself but rather to one who travels in the dog show and breeding circles.

A very positive book about the most positive breed I know.,

This review is from: The Complete Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier (Hardcover)
This book is a must for Wheaten owners. I have read it over and over. It is positive - in contrast to other books describing the history of the breed. It contains very valuable information on pedigrees, and it covers all the foundation dogs of the breed. I can't wait to read the new book on Wheatens by Roberta Vesley. Hopefully, it will be available soon.

This review is from: The Complete Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier (Hardcover)
I had hoped to find a book that would give specific insights into the personality of these wonderful dogs. Unfortunately, this book gives little more than lists of Wheaten Terriers and history, without practical applications. There aren't even any color pictures. I was very dissapointed, and continue to look for a book that will help me make the most informed decisions in living with such a lively, and affectionate puppy.

The Complete Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
This was the 1st book about my wheaten Ulises I could buy by Amazon, so many years ago, as I live so far away in Buenos Aires , Argentina there are no information about the breed. It helped me so much, specially how to care, health, and with his past family, from where he comes from. I recomend this book because is completetely specific. Alicia Trigub Argentina

I did a report on Wheatens and I found this book very helpful. Especially when it came to grooming. Not only did it give me info for my report but also on grooming my own Wheaten! I got an "a" on my report and I owe it mostly to this book! I think it also is a good guide for people who are interested in Wheatens. They are wonderful dogs, my mom loves them because they don't shed! They're not lke other terriers. My pup is the best ever. Wheatens rock!

My family has bred this dog for over one hundred years.,

This review is from: The Complete Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier (Hardcover)
I think it is important that owners of this fine breed of dog should know the history of how this breed came to be. Also they need to know how the bred should be trained, clipped, and the personality of the bred. My family imported this breed from Ireland in 1880, when my great-great-grandfather came to the USA. We still bred the dog and though our dogs are not AKC, they still have the same personalities. These dogs were not very well known twenty years ago, and there are cases where they are mistaken for other breeds still to this day. I recommend this book to any person who is even remotely thinking about this breed. If the owner does not know the history about the breed, how can they then know how their dog will act, their life expectancy, or if the dog is truly a family friendly dog? This book covers all areas of the breed, showing the breed as well as the history, and all the information an owner should know.

Extremely complete. Very well written. Best book on the market. So much better than the generic dog books where one breed is just substituted with another. I have 5 books on the Wheaten terrier. I thought this book was by far the most informative and accurate.
