Love the planter, the seeds didn't really take though,

I bought this because I live in a townhome and all my outdoor plants need to be in pots. I started the seeds in my growing room under grow lights and careful watch (I start all my own seeds, so this is a process I'm used to and know well), and they just never grew well. I think I got maybe 4-5 plants out of all the seeds and they produced small fruit, but it was their first season, they should do better next year. I filled the rest of the planter with store-bought plants and those did very well.
The planter is heavy, which I didn't expect. I bought a shepherd's hook that went into the ground and the thing bent over to the side when I put the planter on it. You will need something sturdy to hang it from. Thankfully my fiance is very handy and welded me my own personal strawberry planter hanger out of old conduit. Outside of my complaints, I like the planter. The plants look nice in it as the vines drape down the sides. If you can buy just the pot and put your own plants in I would suggest doing that rather than the entire strawberry kit. Just make sure they are getting proper water. It always seems my hanging plants dry out the fastest, even though all my plants are in pots. |
