This book is a valuable resource and a delightful read as well! The author writes as she teaches - engagingly and openly - in a friendly, down-to-earth way. The book itself is invitingly organized and is paced nicely, plus its appendices reveal aspects of cards i'd never considered before. On my shelf, it will join Mary K. Greer's books (Tarot for Your Self, Complete Book of Tarot Reversals, and Understanding the Tarot Court - with T. Little), Bunning's Learning the Tarot, and Kliegman's Tarot and the Tree of Life.

I have been a card reader for 28 years. This book is by far the best thing I've come across in all that time. It is simple to understand and clear. It covers important basic aspects with depth. What more could you want?

This book is perfect for me. It is casuing me to really think about the meaning of the cards and to go beyond the basic meanings. Before this book I did give readings and I did look up the basic meanings but when i put everything together to get the whole answer i very rarly went by only the basic readings. I may be under 20, but this book is very helpful. Some of the exercises are long but its worth it. This book is a must have in my opinion.

Excellent book with which to start the Tarot journey! Fun and thoughtful exercises to begin learning the cards, their meanings, and how they relate to you, personally.

This book is great. Each chapter has exercises to perform. It is indeed everything you need to know from start to finish. The exercises are helpful and help familiarize you with the cards and the symbolic meanings for each card. There are also a variety of layouts and discussions of reversed meanings. This book covers it all!

If you're new to Tarot or looking for basic card interpretations, don't buy this book! It may not be appropriate for newbies to Tarot. It addresses the author's "intuitive" approach to reading the cards, but on page one, the author clearly states, "There are three ways to learn the Tarot...(1) tradition meanings of the cards, (2) the intuitive approach, and (3) underlying structures and patterns." The author goes on to say there are plenty of books to teach the first way so there's no point in repeating that in this book.

Well, I'm new to Tarot and I expect to find traditional meanings explained, in addition to whatever other approach the author could relate. I was disappointed not being able to find basic card interpretations. Now I have to find another book that teaches those.

Of course, if you're an advanced Tarot reader and already are very familiar with basic card interpretations, maybe this book is for you.

Wonderful book, teaches you how to read Tarot cards for others and also teaches new ways to learn the cards.

I am a begginer and know nothing about tarot, this book is an excelent hellp.
