First off, let me say that I am a "foodie". I search out prime ingredients. I fuss over my equipment like a mother hen. I read cookbooks in the bathtub.... You get the idea.

"Complete Thai Cooking" is a great cookbook with the following key attributes:
- dishes which are seriously tasty and "feel" Thai (see below)
- clear instuctions
- non-complicated prep work
- findable ingredients, with helpful substitutions
- excellent Thai spice/herb overview

I have the specific need of cooking Thai food in a location where I have limited ingredients and time. At the same time, I am unwilling to spend time cooking anything where the tastes are watered down, and the dishes uninspiring.

I have not been disappointed by anything I have made from the book.

I must admit that I am not qualified to speak about the authenticity/thru-Thai of the recipes. I do know that they taste wonderful, and I'd be happy to pay for them at a Thai resturant.

Without question the finest of the 37 Thai/Asian cookbooks that I own.
Very highly recommended not only for the clear and concise instructions and techniques, but world class and profoundly tasty recipes. Have made several of the dishes and have never been disappointed.
A MUST HAVE VOLUME.

i LOVE this cookbook. i was shocked by the authenticity and the detail put into it. Very well done. i use it to do Cambodian food because it is very similar in many ways and i love thai food, too. Nothing has matched this book to date. Well worth the investment

Do not hesitate on this one! It's absolutely amazing! Wonderful recipes, colorful photos. I LOVE IT!!!!!

On the surface this book looks great but in practice it isn't very useful. As another reviewer mentioned some of the cooking instructions are extremely vague. Some of the recipes are also quite lacking. For example a recipe for red roast pork lists the ingredients as: 1) pork tenderloin 2)red roast pork seasoning mix. Additionally some recipes are served with dipping sauces for which recipes aren't given. One example that comes to mind are the egg strips. The recipes that I have fixed have been good, but have required me to do further research about the dish to get a complete understanding of how to cook it, and what it should be served with. I would not recommend this to someone just getting started with Thai food.

The printing is good quality. The paper stock is very heavy.

The recipes are OK. However, step by step photos would be helpful.

Just seems a waste of money. Unless it is for your bookshelf, and table as an ornament. In this case, it's OK.

The best part about the book was the price. The menu items were varied enough, save for desserts or pastries, but the book did note that desserts are not typically a part of the Thai menu. The recipe items were presented well in picture, but the preparation instructions were diffucult to follow/understand on several recipes. That being said, it was done well enough and well worth the purchase price. A solid 3 out of 5 stars. C. Wiggins

There are too many other Thai cookbooks to chose from. This one does not look well laid out. They didn't focus the pictures plus they are bad shots, they printed the recipes however they felt like it. I'd take a pass on this one.
