Artie on Acid,

This review is from: Complete Tony Scott (Audio CD)
I'm an old Tony Scott fan. He was an exciting clarinet player. Mostly I'd heard him in a small group, post-bop setting, were his stream of ideas fit in perfectly. I'd also heard him backing singers: Billie, Sarah and Carmen, where his feathery tone fit along side them like a pillow. In this big band setting all his attributes fit in beautifully. Goes well with Artie Shaw's later, more modern recordings. "Finger Poppin' Blues" would have made (and may have, at the time) Count Basie tap his foot. Definitely worth hearing and hearing often by any swing fan.
