I wasn't sure I wanted to be a vegetarian, but I had cancer, and I was told this might be a good route to investigate. Maybe fact, maybe myth, but I was willing to try anything. My concept of a vegetarian diet was not pretty. I didn't like vegetables.

I went to my local library, checked out this book and began to make the recipes in it. I was expecting bland and flavorless foods. I was wrong! Every recipe I tried from this book was absolutely delicious. The soups are especially wonderful.

I recovered and I'm fine now. My husband and I are semi-vegetarians (no red meat, very little chicken, but fish is okay) and we are eating, thanks to this book, more delicious food than we were eating before. I have to say, he is surprised at how delicious vegetarian food is, and so am I. And, this way of eating is higher in volume of food but less expensive!!!

I've looked at and tried several vegetarian cookbook recipes, but I keep coming back to this one. The recipes are just more tasty and delicious.

I have the other two sunset vegetarian cookbooks and like them better. I wanted this just to see if there was anything I might want to try that the kids would like and I did find a few recipes that looked good. This is an order cookbook so not the same stuff you might find in todays versions. No quinoa recipes or kale. Just a wide range of crowd pleasers like polenta, quesadillas, quiches, healthy muffins, soups and chowders. I'm interested in the curry soup, the spinach pie and the mushroom crepes. I'm sure you'll find something you'd like to make but its not a vegetarian basic cookbook or like anything that Deborah Madison writes.

I own both Sunset's Vegetarian Cookbook and International Vegetarian Cookbook. Both have several go to recipes I use even though I am not a vegetarian. I bought this book and found that it had different recipes in it so it does not replace my other two. I would recommend all three. You can't go wrong with any of the Sunset cookbooks.

I love the Sunset cookbooks and this is no exception. Full of really good recipes and useful cooking prep tips and information. This is an excellent cookbook for meatless recipes. Be aware though that many are simply meatless, not vegan.

All of the sunset books are great and this one is just as good as all the other books by Sunset.
